Product description

Wooden wick 02 black is a special additional packaging component intended for the production of design candles in containers. Thanks to its stable construction and carefully selected material, it is suitable for use with various types of waxes and containers – from glass vials and medicine bottles to decorative jars and tins. The wooden wick also functions as both a functional and aesthetic element, which supports even burning and gives the final product a handcrafted character.

Usage options

  • Production of candles in glass vials, medicine bottles, jars and tins
  • Design candles in cosmetic containers – balms combined with a candle, gift sets
  • Aromatic candles with essential oils and home fragrances
  • Candles in reusable packaging – for example decorative glasses, bottles or jars from your workshop
  • Test and sample candles in smaller containers

Packaging advantages

  • Material stability – the wooden wick is firm and, if poured correctly, keeps its shape, which enables controlled burning in various types of containers.
  • Protection and comfort in use – the even burning of the candle reduces the risk of burning through the edges of the container and contributes to the long usability of the packaging.
  • Aesthetic and artisanal appearance – wood combined with a glass or plastic bottle, jar or tin looks natural and premium.
  • Universal use – suitable for different styles of candle packaging: minimalist bottles, rustic jars, decorative tins or recycled containers.

Combining with closures and dispensers

The wooden wick is used in combination with containers of various types – for example a glass bottle, medicine bottle, jar or candle tin. These containers are compatible with different types of closures and dosing systems (for example screw caps, droppers, sprayers or practical applicators) according to the selected parameters. The combinations of packaging and closures that are created directly on Handymade are tested and functional. However, for all combinations we always recommend performing your own compatibility test (sealing, dosing and behaviour of the packaging in contact with the specific formulation and when the wax is heated), so that you can be sure of reliable use under the specific conditions of your production.

Technical parameters

All technical parameters of the packaging are listed in the attached Packaging Quality Certificate and in the product parameters.

FAQ – Frequently asked questions

How do I choose the right wooden wick for my container and wax?

The choice of wick always depends on the diameter of the container, the type of wax and the amount of added fragrances or colourants. We recommend starting with trials in the containers in which you will actually sell the candle and testing several wick sizes. During testing, observe especially the burn diameter, flame height, evenness of wax melting and the amount of smoking. Every change in the recipe (wax, fragrance, colourant) should be retested so that the result is stable and safe.

Is it possible to reuse the wooden wick in the same bottle or tin?

The wooden wick itself is intended for single use within one candle burning cycle, but the packaging – bottle, jar or tin – can be reused if hygiene principles are observed. After the candle has burned out, remove wax residues, wash the container thoroughly, dry it and always disinfect it with a suitable product (for example isopropyl alcohol or ethanol) before refilling. For disinfection you can use the products IPA 99% isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96% denatured plant-based, which help to ensure surface cleanliness before re-pouring the wax.

How can I safely dispose of and recycle the container after the candle has burned out?

If you decide not to reuse the container after the candle has burned out, it is appropriate to recycle it according to the material specified in the parameters of the respective packaging on the website. Glass vials, medicine bottles and tins are, after removal of wax residues and the wick, placed into the glass container, plastic packaging into separate plastic collection and metal components (for example tin lids) into metal collection, if the sorting system in your region allows this. Always adapt the recycling rules according to the local recommendations of the collection company and the type of material specified for the particular packaging.

Can I also use the wooden wick in plastic containers intended for candles?

The wooden wick can technically also be used in plastic containers, however it is essential to verify the heat resistance of the specific plastic in the parameters of the given packaging. With some plastics, especially those made of PET material, there is a risk of softening or deformation of the walls under prolonged heat exposure. Therefore we recommend always performing extensive burn tests, checking the temperature of the container walls during burning and giving preference to materials designated by the manufacturer for candles or higher temperatures.

You offer many types of packaging – how can I find the right one for my product?

To select a suitable bottle, tin or jar you can use the extended filter in the packaging category. After clicking on the relevant category, the filter is located in the upper part of the page and allows you to sort products according to several parameters – for example according to neck type, size, colour or material. Thanks to this you can quickly find packaging that will match your formulation, design and closure type, and easily combine it with the wooden wick when producing candles.
