Product description

Wooden wick – spiral is a special packaging component intended for the production of natural candles, decorative scented containers and design packaging, where it serves as a stable, aesthetic and evenly burning wick. Thanks to its spiral shape, it is suitable for use in various jars, pots and containers intended for wax, thereby supporting reliable burning and an attractive visual flame effect. The wooden material is ideal for packaging and presenting liquid and solid wax blends, because it ensures stability, even burning and an original appearance of the final product.

Possible uses

  • Production of candles in glass or tin jars, pots and vials
  • Decorative candles in designer containers for interior design and aromatherapy
  • Scented candles with natural waxes for cosmetic and wellness packaging
  • Candles intended for gift sets together with other cosmetic products
  • Production of candle testers in smaller pots and containers

Packaging advantages

  • Material stability – the wooden wick ensures a firm position in the wax and, with correct pouring, minimizes the risk of tilting or melting to one side.
  • Protection and burning quality – the spiral shape supports even burning of the wax in the container and enables better use of the candle volume.
  • Aesthetic and natural appearance – wood looks natural and premium, which makes the resulting candle an attractive packaging for handmade cosmetic and aromatherapeutic products.
  • Universal use – suitable for various types of containers, jars and pots made from different materials (glass, tin, ceramic) according to the chosen packaging concept.
  • Possibility of combination with different waxes – with proper testing it is possible to use natural as well as blended wax compositions, which extends the design and functionality options of the packaging.

Combining with closures and dispensers

The wooden wick is intended for use in containers and jars without classic dispensers, but when designing the final candle packaging it is important to take into account the type of closure or lid that will cover the container. Containers with candles are generally compatible with various types of lids and closures according to the chosen packaging parameters. Combinations of packaging and closures that are created directly on Handymade are tested and functional. However, for all combinations we always recommend performing your own compatibility test (sealing, handling and behaviour of the packaging in contact with the specific wax or aromatic formulation).

FAQ – Most frequent questions

How to choose the right container or jar for this wooden wick?

When choosing a container for the wooden wick, take into account the diameter of the container, the type of wax and the desired burning time. It is recommended to first create test candles in the selected jar or pot and test whether the wick provides even burning without excessive smoking and tunnelling. For final production, use only those combinations of container and wick that have demonstrated stable and safe burning in the test.

Is it possible to use the wooden wick repeatedly when producing further candles?

The wooden wick is designed as a consumable component that is gradually burned up during burning, therefore a new piece is used for each new candle. However, the containers, jars and pots in which you pour the candles can be reused if their material allows it. Before refilling, it is always necessary to clean and disinfect the container thoroughly, for example using IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or 96 % denatured plant ethanol, in order to minimize the risk of contamination and deterioration of burning.

How to correctly test the combination of wooden wick, wax and packaging container?

Start the testing by pouring a smaller trial series of candles into the selected containers. Observe the behaviour of the wick during burning: flame height, smoking, carbon build-up at the wick tip, wax melting rate and the evenness of the melted surface. Let the candle burn in cycles recommended for the given container size and, after cooling, check whether cracking, excessive overheating of the walls or deformation of the packaging occurs. Only after successful tests do we recommend switching to serial production.

How to safely dispose of or recycle the container after burning a candle with a wooden wick?

After burning the candle, let the wax cool completely and remove the wax residues mechanically. Then sort the container according to its material into the appropriate collection, for example into containers for glass, metal or plastic, in accordance with the recycling rules stated for the specific type of packaging in the product parameters on the Handymade website. If the container is undamaged, you can reuse it after thorough cleaning and disinfection for further candles or for other purposes in the household or for cosmetic packaging.

You offer many packaging options – how can I find the right one for my product?

To make it easier to choose a suitable bottle, jar or pot, we recommend using the extended filter in the packaging categories. After clicking on the relevant category, you will find the filter at the top of the page, where you can sort the packaging according to parameters such as neck type, size, colour and material. This way you can easily select the container that will best correspond to your wax, cosmetic or aromatic formulation and to the desired design of the final product.
