Cross wooden wick is a special component designed for hand-made candle production, which ensures stable, aesthetic and even burning. Thanks to its shape and material, it is ideal for natural waxes and designer candles where you want to achieve a visible flame and a gentle crackling effect. The wick is suitable for use in glass containers, decorative jars and various designer packs intended for candles, and with a properly chosen combination it delivers a professional result even in home conditions.
When choosing a container for a cross wooden wick, it is important to take into account the diameter of the container, the wall height and the type of wax. The container should be heat-resistant, with a flat and stable base and sufficient distance between the flame and the rim of the container. We always recommend making a test candle and monitoring the burning process to verify even melting of the wax and safe operation.
The wooden wick is intended for single use in a specific candle, but you can reuse the container itself after the candle has burnt out. Before refilling, wax residues must be removed mechanically, and the container must be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. For disinfection we recommend using, for example, isopropyl alcohol IPA 99 % or vegetable ethanol Ethanol 96 % denatured. When hygiene principles are followed, the container can be safely refilled.
When selecting a suitable container or packaging, we recommend using the advanced filter, which you will find at the top of the page after clicking on the relevant packaging category. Using the filter, you can conveniently select according to parameters such as neck type, size, colour and material. This way you will quickly find bottles, jars or tins that will match your formulation as well as the visual concept of the product.
After the candle has burnt out, allow the container to cool down completely and carefully remove any wax residues. Then wash the container with a suitable cleaning agent and rinse it. Before the next filling it is important to clean and disinfect the packaging, ideally using products such as IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96 % denatured vegetable. Packaging prepared in this way can be repeatedly used for further candles when hygiene rules are observed.
If you decide not to reuse the container after the candle has burnt out, we recommend recycling it according to the type of material stated in the parameters of the specific packaging on the Handymade website. Glass packaging generally belongs in glass collection containers, plastic containers in sorted plastic waste and metal jars in metal waste, but always follow local recycling rules. The wood from the wick can, after burning, be disposed of in mixed household waste if its energy recovery is not possible.
