The wooden wick represents a natural and design-oriented alternative to classic cotton wicks, suitable for the production of decorative candles in various types of containers – from glass jars to original tins and pots. The stable construction of the wick ensures even burning and is ideal for candle makers who are looking for a reliable and aesthetic solution for their products.
Thanks to the solid wood structure and appropriate processing, this wick is optimized for use in combination with waxes of various origins. It enables smooth, stable burning, thereby supporting quality ignition of the candle and controlled release of fragrances. It is suitable for container candles as well as free-poured candles, with the correct choice of container diameter and wax blend.
Wooden wicks are intended primarily for use in candle containers, such as glass bottles, pill bottles, tins and pots, which, after pouring with wax, are used without classic closures. When selecting suitable packaging, it is important to take into account the diameter of the container, its height and the type of wax, in order to ensure an optimal burning process and sufficient air circulation around the flame. The combinations of packaging and components on Handymade.sk are designed so that, when used correctly, they provide a functional and aesthetic solution. However, for all combinations we always recommend carrying out your own compatibility test – especially with regard to the chosen wax, the diameter of the container and the behaviour of the flame during burning of the candle, in order to ensure the safety of the final product.
All technical parameters of the packaging are listed in the attached Packaging Quality Certificate and in the product parameters.
The choice of wooden wick must always be adapted to the diameter of the container and the type of wax. It is recommended to prepare a test candle in the same tin or pot as the one you plan to use for series production, and to test the burning from the first ignition up to burning off a larger part of the wax. Monitor whether the flame is not too weak (tunnelling) or too strong (excessive smoking). If necessary, adjust the width of the wick or the composition of the wax blend until you achieve stable and safe burning.
Yes, the wooden wick can be used with different types of waxes, such as natural, plant-based or blended waxes. Each wax, however, has a different viscosity and burning rate, which is why it is always necessary to carry out your own test in the specific bottle, tin or pot in which you plan to produce the candles. It is recommended to also test the differences between pure wax and wax with added colours or fragrance components.
For candles with a wooden wick, it is advisable to keep the wick at an appropriate length. Before relighting, you can carefully remove loose or excessively long charred parts to keep the flame stable and prevent smoking. Always use candles in a stable container and on a non-flammable surface, away from drafts and out of the reach of children or pets. This will support safe burning and even melting of the wax in the container.
Containers in which candles with a wooden wick were originally poured can be reused in compliance with hygienic principles, for example for new candles or as practical tins and pots for other products. Before each new use, it is necessary to thoroughly clean the container from wax residues and impurities and then disinfect it with a suitable disinfectant, for example using isopropyl alcohol of cosmetic grade (/ipa-99-isopropyl-alkohol-1-l/ target="_blank") or denatured ethanol of plant origin (/etanol-96-denaturovany-rastlinny-1-l/ target="_blank"). Only after thorough cleaning and disinfection is the packaging ready for further safe use.
If you decide not to reuse the packaging after the candle has burned out, it is appropriate to recycle it in accordance with the type of material specified in the product parameters for the specific bottle, tin or pot. Always remove wax residues and the wick base from the container so that they do not interfere with sorting. Glass containers belong in the glass container, plastic packaging in the container intended for plastics and metal components according to the local sorting system. By following the recommendations in the parameter table on the product page, you will contribute to correct recycling and responsible handling of packaging material.
To select suitable packaging for candles, cosmetics or other products, you can use the advanced filter located at the top of the page after clicking on a specific packaging category. Within the filter, you can easily combine multiple criteria – for example the type and size of the neck, the required size of the container, colour and material. By narrowing down the selection according to these parameters, you will quickly find bottles, tins, pots or other types of packaging that will best match your product and the technical requirements for filling and use.
