Wooden wick BOOSTER crackling is a special wick intended for making designer candles in containers, where it gives the candle a unique visual and acoustic effect. Thanks to its natural composition, it is suitable for various types of waxes and allows stable, even burning without excessive smoking when the wick and container size are correctly chosen.
The construction of this wooden wick ensures characteristic gentle crackling during burning, creating a feeling of a cosy atmosphere similar to burning wood in a fireplace. With a suitable combination of quality wax, container and correct wick placement, you achieve a professional result that is ideal for craft and small-series candle-making projects.
The wooden wick BOOSTER is used in combination with candle containers – for example with glass, ceramic or other decorative packaging intended for candle pouring. When selecting a suitable container, it is necessary to consider its diameter, height and the type of wax so that burning is stable and safe. It is recommended to use containers and accessories available on Handymade.sk, which are intended specifically for candle production and allow safe fixing of wooden wicks.
The combinations of packaging and candle accessories that are created directly on Handymade are tested and functional. However, for all combinations we always recommend carrying out your own compatibility test (behaviour of the wax, fragrances and wick in the specific container, burning stability and sufficient wax melt pool).
All technical parameters of the packaging are given in the attached Packaging Quality Certificate and in the product parameters.
The size of the wooden wick must be adapted to the diameter and type of container, as well as to the wax used and the amount of fragrance. We recommend starting from the parameters given with the product and always making a test pour of the candle in the specific container. During the test, observe the width of the wax melt layer, flame height and smoking. Depending on the result, you can choose a narrower or wider wick, or adjust the wick length before lighting.
The wooden wick must be fixed into a suitable holder and precisely centred in the middle of the container so that the flame is stable and melts the wax evenly. Fill the container with wax at the recommended temperature according to the wax type and let it cool completely. Before the first lighting, check whether the wick is sufficiently trimmed to the recommended length to prevent excessive smoking or an excessively high flame.
The wooden wick is suitable for several types of waxes intended for candle making, for example soy, palm or blended waxes. For each formulation, however, we recommend performing your own burn test, because the wax type, added fragrances and colourants can affect flame behaviour. When changing the wax or fragrance concentration, always pour a test candle and observe burning over the entire lifetime of the candle.
You can reuse the glass container after the candle has burned out for a new candle with a wooden wick, provided that hygiene principles are followed. Before refilling, the container must be thoroughly cleaned of wax residues, soot and adhesives and then disinfected with a suitable alcohol, for example with IPA or ethanol products available on Handymade.sk (/ipa-99-isopropyl-alkohol-1-l/, /etanol-96-denaturovany-rastlinny-1-l/). After cleaning and disinfection, check that the container is not damaged or cracked. If you decide not to use the container further, we recommend recycling it in accordance with local waste-sorting rules according to the container material specified in the product parameters.
