Product description

Crackling wooden wick 12.7 mm is intended for hand-made candle production in glass containers, decorative jars or modern bottles where you want to achieve an impressive, naturally crackling burn. Thanks to the stable structure of the material and suitable processing, it is ideal for wax blends with different viscosity and density, ensuring even burning without excessive smoking when correctly sized and tested.

Possible uses

  • Hand-poured candles in glass bottles, apothecary bottles and design containers
  • Candles in decorative pots and jars that prevent wax from spilling
  • Atmospheric scented candles with crackling effect for aromatherapy and relaxation
  • Candles with natural waxes (e.g. soy, rapeseed, blend systems) after individual testing
  • Limited collections in original packaging where the sound and visual experience of burning are important

Packaging advantages

  • Material stability – the wooden wick is made from high-quality, homogeneous wood which, when used correctly, ensures consistent burning and supports even melting of the wax across the surface.
  • Protection and user comfort – in combination with a suitable container, it creates a safe combustion zone, reduces the risk of wax splashing and improves the overall comfort of candle use.
  • Natural character and design – the wooden material looks natural and aesthetic and, in combination with a suitable bottle, pot or jar, gives the candle a premium, artisan look.
  • Universal use – suitable for various types of decorative containers intended for candles, allowing you to easily match the candle design with other plastic or glass cosmetic packaging in your range.

Combining with closures and dispensers

The wooden wick is used in combination with a suitable container (bottle, apothecary bottle, pot, jar) that is resistant to the heat generated during candle burning. When selecting packaging, choose solutions that are stable, have a flat bottom and allow safe anchoring of the wick in the centre of the container using a metal or wooden holder intended for this purpose. Combinations of packaging and closures that are created directly on Handymade are tested and functional. However, for all combinations we always recommend performing your own compatibility test (sealing, dosing and behaviour of the packaging in contact with the specific formulation).

Technical parameters

All technical parameters of the packaging are specified in the attached Packaging Quality Certificate and in the product parameters.

FAQ – Most frequent questions

How to choose the right container for the crackling wooden wick?

For the wooden wick it is important to choose a container with an even bottom and sufficient width so that the wax can melt evenly. Stable glass or heat-resistant containers such as solid bottles, apothecary bottles or decorative jars intended for candles are recommended. It is always necessary to make a trial pour and test the burning of the specific wax blend in the selected packaging.

Is the wooden wick suitable for all types of waxes?

The wooden wick is compatible with most commonly used wax systems for candle production; however, the burning behaviour depends on the specific blend, additives and container diameter. When changing the type of wax or adding colourants and fragrance oils, we always recommend producing test samples, checking flame stability and the evenness of wax melting in the selected bottles, pots or jars.

Can I reuse the packaging in which a wooden wick was used after the candle has burned out?

You can reuse the container after the candle has burned out if you follow hygiene principles – for example for another candle, for storing decorative small items or as a cosmetic jar or bottle. Wax residues must be gently removed and the packaging subsequently thoroughly cleaned. Before refilling, we recommend cleaning and disinfecting the packaging with a suitable alcohol-based product, for example IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or ethanol 96 % denatured plant-based. A container prepared in this way is hygienically ready for further use.

How to safely dispose of or recycle the packaging after the candle has burned out?

If you decide not to use the container with the wooden wick any further, we recommend recycling it according to the type of material specified in the parameters of the specific packaging on the site. Glass bottles, apothecary bottles or jars, after removing wax residues and metal parts, belong in the container intended for glass. Plastic packaging is sorted according to the type of plastic stated in the product parameter table. By following these recommendations, you will support more environmentally friendly handling of packaging material.

You offer many types of packaging – how can I find the right one for my product?

For easier packaging selection you can use the advanced filter located at the top of the page after clicking on the relevant packaging category. In the advanced filter you can sort packaging according to parameters such as neck type and size, overall packaging size, colour and material. Thanks to this you can quickly select suitable bottles, apothecary bottles, jars or pots for your candles, cosmetic or other products.
