Product description

Wooden wick – crackling booster is a special accessory designed for the production of natural candles in glass, tin containers or other suitable candle vessels. Thanks to its construction, it is ideal for pouring into various wax formulations and ensures a stable burner, even burning and a distinctive crackling effect that resembles a fireplace fire.

The high-quality workmanship of the wood contributes to clean burning without excessive smoking when properly matched with the wax and the container. The booster construction supports better drawing of the molten wax, which makes the wick suitable even for thicker wax formulations and provides comfortable and safe combustion.

Possible uses

  • Production of candles in glass vials, pharmaceutical bottles and decorative containers
  • Candles in tin and aluminium containers or jars
  • Design candles in ceramic vessels or concrete jars
  • Suitable for soy, natural vegetable and selected paraffin wax blends (according to individual testing)
  • Aromatherapy candles with essential oils and fragrance compositions

Packaging advantages

  • Material stability – wood is strong, does not deform when used correctly and allows reliable fixation in the wick holder.
  • Protection and burning quality – the booster construction supports even burning of the wax and helps minimise smoking with a correctly selected wick and container diameter.
  • Crackling effect – creates a unique sound backdrop during burning that increases the perceived value of the candle.
  • Universal use – compatible with various types of candle containers (glass vials, jars, pots), suitable for home and semi-professional pouring.
  • Natural appearance – the wooden character of the wick supports the natural image of handmade candles.

Combining with closures and dispensers

The wooden wick is used in combination with glass, tin or ceramic candle containers, which you can find in our range in various shapes and designs. Containers intended for candles are compatible with several types of closures (for example lids made of metal, plastic or wood), which allows safe storage and attractive presentation of finished products.

The combinations of packaging and closures created directly on Handymade are tested and functional. However, for all combinations we always recommend performing your own compatibility test – focused on the tightness of the closure, the behaviour of the containers when heated by wax and during candle burning, as well as on the stability of the wick in the specific container.

FAQ – Most frequently asked questions

How to choose the correct length and number of wooden wicks for a specific container?

The choice of wooden wick depends on the diameter and shape of the container used, the type of wax and the level of fragrance. We recommend always starting with a test series – pour a candle with one wick, test the burning for at least several hours and, based on the result, if necessary change the width of the wick, its cutting length or the number of wicks in one container. For wider containers it may be appropriate to use several wicks side by side in order to achieve even melting of the wax right up to the edge.

How to achieve optimal crackling of the wooden wick during burning?

The crackling effect of the wooden wick is most pronounced with a correctly adjusted wick – wax – container combination. Make sure that the wick is fixed in the centre of the container, trimmed to the recommended length before each lighting and that the wax level is not too low or too high relative to the top edge of the wick. For a more intense sound it is advisable to use high-quality natural wax and avoid excessive amounts of additives that can change the burning behaviour.

Is it possible to reuse the wooden wick after the candle has burned out?

The wooden wick is a consumable component that naturally burns down gradually during burning, therefore it is generally not reused after the candle has burned out. However, the container in which the candle was poured can be used again for another candle or another product, if you clean it thoroughly of residual wax and soot. Before reusing the packaging, we recommend washing it with a suitable cleaning agent, drying it thoroughly and mechanically removing any remaining adhesive or wick holder.

How to safely dispose of or recycle the components after the candle has burned out?

After the candle has burned out, it is advisable first to separate the remaining parts of the wick and the holder from the container. The remains of the wooden wick can be thrown into mixed waste; the metal or other wick holder should be disposed of according to the recommended sorting by material. The candle container (glass, metal, ceramic) can usually be recycled in the appropriate waste stream after cleaning or reused for creative purposes. When recycling, follow the symbols and recommendations in the parameters of the specific packaging on the product page.

You offer a lot of packaging – how can I find the right one for my product?

Choosing a suitable vial, jar or pot is made easier by the advanced filter in the packaging categories. After clicking on the relevant category, you will find the filter at the top of the page, where you can combine several criteria at once. The packaging can be filtered by neck type, size, colour and material, which allows you to quickly find a container that will suit your wax, candle style and planned closure.
