Product description

The wooden crackling wick is a special wick intended for candles, which creates a pleasant crackling sound reminiscent of burning wood in a fireplace. Thanks to stable burning, it is suitable for producing design candles in glass containers, ceramics or metal packaging, where you want to highlight the premium appearance and unique sound effect. The wick is ideal for natural waxes; with a correctly chosen candle diameter and wax, it provides even burning and an aesthetic flame.

Possible uses

  • Production of natural candles in glass containers and jars
  • Candles in decorative pots and ceramic containers
  • Design candles with a wooden crackling effect for indoor use
  • Scented candles – essential and fragrance oils bound in the wax
  • Candles intended as gift or limited editions in premium packaging

Packaging benefits

  • Natural material – the wooden wick looks natural and aesthetic in both glass and ceramic candle packaging.
  • Burning stability – with a correctly chosen container diameter and wax type, it provides an even, visually pleasing flame.
  • Sound effect – the characteristic gentle crackling of wood enhances the experience of using the candle.
  • Universal use – suitable for various types of containers (glass bottle, jar, pot, candle container) according to your brand design.
  • Premium look – wood in combination with minimalist packaging helps differentiate the finished product on the market.

Combining with closures and dispensers

Candle containers, bottles and jars in which the wooden wick is used are compatible with various types of closures and accessories according to the selected parameters of the specific packaging. Most often these are classic candle lids or decorative closures that protect the wax surface during storage and transport. Combinations of packaging and closures that are created directly on Handymade are tested and functional. However, for all combinations we always recommend carrying out your own compatibility test – especially of the sealing, the behaviour of the closure during handling, and the stability of the wick in the chosen container and wax.

Technical parameters

All technical parameters of the packaging are listed in the attached Packaging Quality Certificate and in the product parameters.

FAQ – Most frequent questions

You offer many types of packaging – how can I find the right one for my product?

The simplest solution is to use the advanced filter in the packaging category. After clicking on the selected category (for example bottles, jars or pots), you will find the filter at the top of the page. You can choose a combination of parameters such as neck, size, colour and material, thanks to which you will quickly find a suitable container for a candle, cosmetic or other product into which you will place the wooden wick.

How to correctly choose the size of the candle container for the wooden crackling wick?

When choosing a suitable container (glass bottle, jar or pot), it is important to take into account the candle diameter and the type of wax. Wooden wicks in general need a sufficient supply of oxygen, therefore it is appropriate to use a container with such a diameter that the flame melts the wax surface evenly and no tunnelling occurs. We recommend always producing a trial series of candles in the specific container and testing the burning in real conditions before you place the product on the market.

Is it possible to reuse candle packaging in which I use a wooden wick?

Yes, glass bottles, jars and pots for candles can, if hygiene principles are observed, be reused. After the candle has burned out, remove the wax residues, mechanically clean the inside of the container and then always clean and disinfect the packaging thoroughly before refilling. For disinfection we recommend using the products IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96 % denatured plant-based. Packaging prepared in this way is suitable for further filling with wax or for other indirect use in the household.

How to safely dispose of and recycle the container after the candle with a wooden wick has burned out?

If you decide not to reuse the container after the candle, we recommend recycling it according to the material specified in the parameters of the specific packaging on the product page. Glass bottles and jars, after removal of wax residues and metal parts, belong in the glass container. Plastic or metal lids or closures are sorted according to their material marking into the appropriate container. Always follow the local rules for waste separation and the information in the parameter table for the given packaging on www.handymade.sk.

What should you pay attention to when testing a candle with a wooden crackling wick in a new container?

With a new combination of container, wax and wooden wick, always carry out multiple burn tests. Monitor the flame size, the evenness of wax melting, the stability of the wick and the flammability of decorations in the surroundings. The temperature of the container walls during burning is also important so that handling the candle is safe. Every wax, fragrance and container diameter can behave differently, so do not underestimate trial series before final labelling and selling of the product.
