Wooden wick – crackling booster is specially intended for designer candles in jars, where it creates a characteristic effect of gentle crackling reminiscent of a fireplace. Thanks to its stable construction and suitably chosen wooden material, it ensures even burning, effective fragrance release and an aesthetic visual and sound experience. It represents a professional solution for candle makers who want to differentiate their final product and give it a premium character.
When choosing a wooden wick, take into account the container diameter, the type of wax and the content of fragrance or colourants. It is recommended to first create test candles with a smaller number of variations and observe the burning rate, flame size and evenness of wax melting. If necessary, you can use a narrower or wider wick, or adjust the ratio of wax to fragrance to achieve an optimal result.
The wooden wick is generally suitable for most natural waxes, such as soy, rapeseed, coconut or their blends. However, for each new type of wax or when changing the formulation (amount of fragrance, dye, etc.), we recommend carrying out a trial pour and testing the behaviour of the wick under the specific conditions to ensure safe and even candle performance.
You can shorten the wooden wick as needed to the required height directly before pouring the candle or after the first testing. It is recommended to leave sufficient length above the wax surface so that lighting is comfortable and the flame remains stable. During candle use, it is appropriate to adjust (trim) the wick as needed to avoid excessive smoking or an overly large flame.
The containers themselves into which you pour candles with a wooden wick can be reused if hygiene and safety principles are observed. Before refilling, wax and soot residues must be thoroughly removed, and the container must be cleaned and disinfected. For disinfection, we recommend using technical alcohol, for example IPA or ethanol, available in the raw materials category on Handymade, and the packaging must always be thoroughly dried before the next filling.
If you decide not to reuse the container after the candle has burned out, we recommend recycling it in accordance with the material specified in the parameters for the given packaging (for example, sorting into glass or plastic according to the type of container). Remove wax residues mechanically and free the container from visible dirt before placing it in sorted waste. Adapt the exact sorting method to the material marking on the packaging and local recycling rules.
When choosing suitable packaging, we recommend using the advanced filter, which you can find at the top of the page after clicking on the selected packaging category. Using the filter, you can easily narrow down the offer according to neck type, size, colour and material, or according to other available parameters. This way you will quickly find bottles, medicine bottles, jars or pots that will best suit your specific product and the intended method of use.
