Wooden wick 03 BOOSTER crackling represents a special packaging component for medicine bottles, vials and decorative containers intended for the production of natural candles. Thanks to its construction with an integrated booster, it ensures a stable burning flame and a characteristic crackling effect that evokes the atmosphere of crackling wood in a fireplace. The wick is designed so that, with a properly chosen container and wax, it supports even burning and a high-quality candle-use experience.
The wooden wick is intended for use in medicine bottles, vials, jars and pots without classic closures during burning. It is especially suitable for containers that serve as the final packaging of the finished candle. When choosing a specific vial or container, it is important to take into account the inner diameter of the packaging, the type of wax and the desired flame intensity.
Glass and other containers into which the wick is inserted are compatible, during storage, with various types of closures (for example classic screw closures or lids), which are simply removed before lighting the candle. Combinations of packaging and closures that are created directly on Handymade are tested and functional. However, for all combinations we always recommend performing your own compatibility test – focusing on sealing during storage, the behaviour of the wax in the specific container, the stability of the wick and the safe distance of the flame from the edges of the packaging.
All technical parameters of the packaging are stated in the attached Packaging Quality Certificate and in the product parameters.
When choosing a container, it is important to observe in particular the inner diameter of the packaging and the planned type of wax. The wooden wick should create an even melt pool in the container without excessive overheating of the walls. We recommend trying several types of vials, jars or pots and making test pours, during which you observe the initial and long-term burning (after several lighting and extinguishing cycles). In this way, you verify whether the combination of wick, wax and packaging is safe and functional for your product.
The wick is primarily intended for single use in a specific candle; however, the packaging itself (vial, jar, pot) can be reused after the candle has burned out. After removing wax residues, the packaging must be thoroughly cleaned and always disinfected before refilling, for example using the products IPA 99 – isopropyl alcohol or ethanol 96 denatured vegetable, which you can find in our range: /ipa-99-isopropyl-alkohol-1-l/ and /etanol-96-denaturovany-rastlinny-1-l/. Adhering to hygiene principles is important for the safety and quality of the new product in your packaging.
Before each lighting of the candle, we recommend checking the length of the wick and trimming it to approximately the same height as it had when the candle was poured, or slightly shorter according to your tests. You can carefully snap off or cut off the excess burnt part. A wooden wick that is too long may cause smoking and an excessive flame, while one that is too short may make re-lighting difficult. Ongoing maintenance of the wick helps maintain stable burning and a pleasant crackling effect.
When testing, always work on a flat, non-flammable surface, away from draughts and heat-sensitive materials. Pour the candles into the final packaging in which you want to sell them, because the shape, material and wall thickness have a fundamental influence on burning. Then observe the first lighting, the formation of the melt pool, the temperature of the packaging and the behaviour of the flame during longer burning. Test various burning times (for example 2–4 hours), repeated lighting and possible changes during long-term use. Only after successful tests is it appropriate to adjust the formula and combination into the final version for customers.
After the candle has burned out, it is advisable first to remove wax residues from the vial, jar or pot, for example mechanically or by gentle heating so that the wax separates from the walls of the container. The wooden wick itself and its remnants belong in mixed or biodegradable waste according to local rules. Recycle the packaging according to the material stated in the product parameters for the specific container on the Handymade.sk website – glass packaging normally belongs in the glass container, plastic packaging in the appropriate plastic sorting. By following the recommended sorting, you reduce the amount of waste and support the reuse of materials.
For easier selection of a suitable vial, medicine bottle, jar or pot, we recommend using the advanced filter in the packaging category. After clicking on the relevant category at the top of the page, you will see the option to filter products according to several parameters – in particular according to neck type, size, colour and packaging material. Thanks to this, you can quickly narrow the selection down to only those packaging options that are closest to your idea and technical requirements, whether you are preparing candles, cosmetics or other products.
