Product description

Wooden Wick 04 Booster crackling is a specially designed accessory for candle making that ensures an aesthetic burn with gentle crackling reminiscent of firewood in a fireplace. Thanks to its construction it is particularly suitable for waxes with a higher content of natural components and allows even burning without excessive smoking when the wax type and container diameter are correctly chosen. This component is intended for use in glass or tin containers and decorative packaging, where, in addition to its functional role, it also fulfils a strong design function.

Possible uses

  • Natural and decorative candles in glass jars, pots and other containers
  • Design candles in smaller jars and bottles intended for interior decorations
  • Candles made from vegetable, soy or blended waxes in compatible packaging
  • Limited editions of candles in original packaging where a crackling auditory effect is required
  • Candles intended for gift sets and kits with other packaging for cosmetics or aromatherapy

Packaging advantages

  • Material stability – the wooden wick is rigid, and when used correctly it retains its shape and supports consistent burning in various types of containers
  • Protection and user comfort – a suitably chosen container and an adapted wick diameter reduce the risk of excessive smoking and burning through the walls of the packaging
  • Aesthetic and sensory effect – the natural appearance of the wood and the crackling sound during burning increase the perceived value of the final product
  • Universal creative use – can be combined with various design jars, pots or bottles according to the style of your brand

Combining with closures and dispensers

The wooden wick is intended for use in candle containers, such as glass jars, pots and other heat-resistant packaging that remain open while burning. When choosing a suitable container, we recommend using stable and heat-resistant packaging in which the wick is placed vertically in the centre using an appropriate holder or by fixing it in the wax.

If you use the wooden wick in combination with packaging available on Handymade, follow the recommendation for the specific container as well as your own testing. Combinations of packaging and components that are created directly on Handymade are tested and functional. However, for all combinations we always recommend carrying out your own compatibility test – checking the burning, flame formation, wax behaviour and safety during burning in the specific type of container.

Technical parameters

All technical parameters of the packaging are stated in the enclosed Packaging Quality Certificate and in the product parameters.

FAQ – Frequently asked questions

How do I choose the correct size and number of wooden wicks for my candle container?

Choosing a wooden wick depends mainly on the diameter and shape of the container, the type and composition of the wax and any additives (colourants, fragrances). We recommend first making test candles in a small series and observing the behaviour of the flame, the rate of wax melting and the formation of the carbon layer. If the flame is too small, a wider wick or a combination of several pieces may be needed; in the case of excessive smoking, choose a smaller wick diameter or adjust the percentage of fragrance. Each new formulation and container should be tested individually.

How should I correctly prepare the container and wooden wick before pouring the candle?

The candle container must be clean, dry and free from dust or oil residues. Before filling, it is advisable to mechanically clean the interior of the container and degrease it if necessary. We recommend fixing the wooden wick to the centre of the bottom using a suitable holder or an adhesive dot so that it is stable and vertical when the wax is poured. After pouring, allow the candle to cool completely and then check whether the wick has remained in the centre and whether the height has been trimmed to the recommended length before the first lighting.

Can the container from a candle with a wooden wick be reused?

Yes, suitable glass or other heat-resistant containers can be reused after the candle has burned out, in compliance with hygiene principles, to make a new candle or for other purposes. Remove wax residues mechanically and in an appropriate manner according to the type of wax; then wash the packaging thoroughly. Before refilling, we recommend cleaning and disinfecting the packaging, for example using isopropyl alcohol or ethanol offered by Handymade – IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96 % denatured vegetable. This supports hygiene, safety and a longer service life of the packaging.

How can I safely dispose of and recycle the packaging after the candle has burned out?

After the candle has burned out, first remove the wax residues and any metal or other wick holders. Containers that you decide not to reuse should be placed in sorted waste according to the material stated in the parameters of the specific product (for example glass in the glass container, metal lids with metals, etc.). Remove the wood from the wick after it has completely cooled and dispose of it in mixed waste, unless local recycling rules provide otherwise. Always follow the recommendations of your local waste collection company and the information in the parameter table for the given container on the Handymade website.

You offer many types of packaging – how can I find the right one for my product?

To select a suitable container for candles or other products you can use the extended filter in the packaging categories. This filter is located at the top of the page after clicking on the relevant category (for example bottles, pharma bottles, jars, pots or candle containers). In the extended filter you can sort packaging by neck type, size, colour and material, which significantly facilitates the selection of compatible packaging for a specific product and the chosen type of closure or design.
