Amber Glass Bottle, White Nasal Spray, 100 ml

A glass bottle with a nasal sprayer is a ready-made set for aqueous solutions and hydrosols that are applied in small, measured doses. The amber glass medicine bottle with a volume of 100 ml protects the contents from light, and the white nasal sprayer with an 18/410 neck finish dispenses them as a fine mist. The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. The bottle and the nasal sprayer are sold together, so there is nothing to match up when filling.

What the set is suitable for

The nasal sprayer is designed for thin aqueous liquids. It works best with saline solutions, hydrosols, herbal infusions and other thin aqueous mixtures that need to pass through a narrow nozzle without clogging. The dip tube and the pump cannot spray thick gels, oils and emulsions evenly. For such contents, we recommend testing the function on a sample before you fill the whole batch.

• Measured dose – each press releases approximately the same volume, so the contents are applied economically and consistently.
• Fine mist – the nozzle breaks the liquid into tiny droplets instead of a continuous stream.
• Glass bottle – it does not react with the contents and can be washed and disinfected thoroughly.

Filling and dispensing

One press releases approximately 0.12 ml of the contents. The actual dose depends on the viscosity of the liquid and on whether the pump is properly primed. After screwing on a new nasal sprayer, first press the pump several times to prime it, until the tube and the mechanism fill and a continuous mist begins to come out.

The bottle states its nominal volume, that is, the amount the packaging is intended for under normal filling. The total brimful volume is larger and you will find it in the parameters. The difference between the two values is a reserve for the dip tube, the air above the liquid and any expansion of the contents. Fill only up to the nominal volume. If you filled it up to the neck, part of the contents would be pushed out when the nasal sprayer is screwed on.

Good to know

The dip tube of the nasal sprayer must not kink in the neck when it is screwed on. If it bends at the bottom, it can be trimmed so that it reaches just above the bottom of the bottle and draws up the contents down to the last millilitres.

Each press lets air into the bottle, so aqueous contents need preserving, just as in any other packaging that is opened and used repeatedly. Saline solutions and hydrosols without a preservative are suitable only for quick use.

The nasal sprayer combines polypropylene, polystyrene, LDPE, a steel spring and glass. For contents with a higher proportion of essential oils or solvents, we recommend testing on a sample how the plastic parts behave in the finished formulation, especially during longer storage of the filled pack.

After washing and disinfection, the bottle can be reused. The nasal sprayer is harder to clean: you cannot see the tube and the inside of the mechanism, and residues of the contents remain in them. When you change the formulation or after longer use, it is more reliable to fit a new nasal sprayer with the same 18/410 neck finish from the Handymade range. For waste sorting, the bottle goes with glass; the nasal sprayer is made of several materials and is disposed of separately.
