Product description

Ready-to-use set for cosmetic preparations applied in small amounts as a fine mist: an amber glass vial with a nominal volume of 30 ml fitted with a white nasal spray pump with a narrow applicator. Amber glass protects the contents from light, making it suitable for blends with hydrolats, infusions, and other light-sensitive ingredients. The precise small dose makes this set ideal where a standard spray gives too much – for refreshing mists on small areas of skin, travel-size tonics, or samples where you need to control consumption.

What the set offers

  • Light protection – amber glass filters UV and visible light, slowing the degradation of sensitive ingredients and fragrances.
  • Small, repeatable dose – the pump dispenses approximately 0.12 ml of content as a fine mist with each press. Consumption is predictable and the preparation is applied exactly where needed.
  • Closed system – once filled, the contents do not come into contact with hands or fingers, reducing the risk of contamination during use.
  • Odour-neutral glass – glass does not react with the contents or absorb fragrances, so after washing it can be reused for a different preparation.
  • Declaration of conformity – both components have their own EU declaration of conformity with the packaging regulation; documents are available with the product.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the volume for which the container is designed for standard filling. The total brim-full volume is the physical volume of the bottle up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference provides a margin for the pump's dip tube, the air cushion above the liquid, and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle is filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim – otherwise, when the pump is fitted, some of the contents will be forced out and the thread will become soiled. Exact values for both volumes are listed in the product specifications.

How the set works and what it is suitable for

The pump screws onto the vial with an 18/410 thread. The dip tube is supplied longer than the height of the bottle and is trimmed before fitting so that it reaches the bottom – allowing virtually all the contents to be dispensed. Before first use, the mechanism must be pressed several times until the tube fills and the mist begins to dispense evenly. The pump is set for fine dispersion and a small volume, so it is not suitable for thick or viscous preparations – these would clog the nozzle or emerge as a stream rather than a mist.

Particularly suitable are aqueous and hydroalcoholic preparations with low viscosity:

  • refreshing and soothing mists with hydrolats or plant infusions for small areas of skin,
  • travel or sample-size facial tonics that are otherwise sold in larger containers,
  • fine spray preparations where the dose should be small and precisely measured,
  • fragrance or aromatic mists with a low proportion of oil, fully solubilised in water.

Oil-based preparations and blends with an undissolved oil phase are not suitable for this pump – the fine nozzle reliably disperses only thin liquids, and oil would gradually clog it.

The set is declared for cosmetic products. Preparations applied into the nose to relieve health complaints do not fall under cosmetics and are subject to different legislation – for such purposes, the suitability of the packaging must be verified against the relevant regulations.

Contact with food and cosmetics

The glass vial has a separate certificate for direct contact with food and with cosmetics. The pump is declared for cosmetics. The set as a whole is therefore intended for cosmetic preparations and is not suitable for packaging food.

What to know before filling

Before first filling, we recommend washing both components, rinsing the glass with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and allowing it to dry completely. The pump is disinfected by flushing with alcohol followed by clean water to ensure no residue remains in the mechanism. Components are assembled only onto dry glass – otherwise water droplets in the neck will enter the preparation.

The plastic parts of the pump and the steel spring come into contact with the contents. For preparations with a higher proportion of essential oils, alcohol, or solvents, we recommend filling one unit as a test and checking after a few weeks whether the mechanism still dispenses the same way and whether the scent or colour of the contents has changed. The glass itself is resistant to these ingredients.

Glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes – a hot preparation must not be poured into the vial; it should be allowed to cool to room temperature first. The straight cylindrical section of the bottle is intended for the label.

If you wish to reuse the set, flush the pump several times with clean water after emptying and leave it to dry with the mechanism unscrewed. Dried residue from the preparation is the most common reason the nozzle stops dispersing.

At the end of use, the glass is sorted as glass packaging. The pump is a multi-component part made of plastics with a steel spring and belongs in plastic waste according to the rules in your region.

Frequently asked questions

Is the glass vial with nasal spray suitable for hydrolat?
Yes, hydrolats and other thin aqueous preparations are the most suitable for this set. The pump disperses them into a fine mist in a small dose, and the amber glass protects the hydrolat from light. A hydrolat in this packaging must be preserved, as the closed system does not prevent the growth of microorganisms that entered the preparation during filling.
How many doses are in a 30 ml bottle with nasal spray?
At an approximate dose of 0.12 ml, 30 ml yields approximately 250 presses. The actual number depends on the viscosity of the preparation, how much content remains below the dip tube level, and whether the bottle is filled to the nominal volume. For your own preparation, it is therefore advisable to measure the actual dose on a kitchen scale during the first few presses.
Can an oil-based preparation be filled into the nasal spray?
No, oil-based preparations and emulsions are not suitable for this pump. The fine nozzle reliably disperses only thin aqueous or hydroalcoholic liquids; oil comes out as a stream and gradually clogs the mechanism. For an oil serum, we recommend the same vial with a dropper or another pump with the same 18/410 thread.
Is the glass vial with nasal spray set suitable for contact with food?
No, the set as a whole is not declared for contact with food. The food contact certificate applies only to the glass vial separately; the pump does not have one. The complete set is therefore intended for cosmetic preparations; for home-made syrups or oils, use the vial with a different closure that has a food contact certificate.
How to prepare the glass vial and pump before first filling?
Both components must be washed, disinfected with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and allowed to dry completely. The pump is cleaned by flushing with alcohol and then clean water so that no residue remains in the nozzle. The dip tube is trimmed to reach the bottom of the bottle, the bottle is filled to the nominal volume of 30 ml, the pump is screwed onto the dry neck and the mechanism is pressed several times until the tube fills.
Why has the nasal spray stopped dispersing mist?
Most commonly, there are dried residues of the preparation in the nozzle, or the contents are too thick. Unscrew the pump, flush with clean water and allow to dry; if the mist still does not come out, check the viscosity of the preparation. It also helps to fill only to the nominal volume and to check that the dip tube is not bent, compressed, or left uncut when fitting.
