Product description

Wooden wick 0.2 – black 19.1 mm is a specially designed component intended for the production of designer candles in containers. Thanks to precise workmanship, stable burning and a pleasant visual effect, it is suitable for professional manufacturers as well as artisans who want to give their candles a unique character. It is a practical and aesthetic accessory for various types of containers – from glass jars, pots and tumblers to decorative containers intended for candles.

Uses

  • production of candles in glass containers, jars and pots
  • designer candles in ceramic or metal containers
  • craft candles intended for gift packaging and sets
  • decorative candles with a wooden wick for premium collections
  • production of candles in decorative containers intended for further repeated use

Packaging advantages

  • Stable burning – the wooden wick ensures smooth and even burning, thereby supporting good candle performance in various types of containers.
  • Aesthetic effect – the modern look of the wooden wick highlights the premium character of the candle in the glass jar, pot or other container.
  • Material stability – well-processed quality wood is strong, holds its shape well and works well with the wax in the packaging.
  • Universal use – suitable for various types of waxes (paraffin, soy, blends) and several types of containers according to the selected diameter.
  • Possibility of combination with various packages – the wick can be used in smaller and larger containers, bottles or decorative vials intended for candles.

Combining with closures and dispensers

The wooden wick is intended primarily for use in candle containers such as glass jars, pots, tumblers or other suitable containers. When choosing a specific package, we recommend taking its diameter and shape into account so that the candle burns evenly and safely. Combinations of packaging and components that are created directly on Handymade are tested and functional. However, for all combinations, we always recommend carrying out your own compatibility test – checking the behaviour of the wick in the selected wax, the flame size, the evenness of wax melting and the overall stability of the candle in the specific container.
When working with a wooden wick, it is advisable to test different wick lengths, wax types and container sizes in order to achieve the optimal result for your specific candles.

Technical parameters

All technical parameters of the packaging are listed in the attached Packaging Quality Certificate and in the product parameters.

FAQ – Frequently asked questions

You offer many types of packaging – how do I find the right one for my product?

To select the right packaging, you can use the advanced filter, which you will find in the upper part of the page after clicking on the relevant packaging category. In the advanced filter you can conveniently set parameters such as neck, size, colour or material and thus display only those bottles, jars, pots or containers that are suitable for your specific product or for the planned candles with a wooden wick.

Is it possible to use the wooden wick repeatedly together with the same candle container?

The wooden wick is usually intended for single use in one candle, but the container itself (glass jar or pot) can be used repeatedly if hygiene principles are observed. Before pouring in new wax, the container must be thoroughly cleaned of wax residues and impurities and then cleaned and disinfected. For disinfection, we recommend using isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, for example the products IPA 99% isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96% denatured vegetable. This will ensure that the container is prepared for safe reuse.

How do I choose the right candle container for this wooden wick?

When choosing a candle container, its inner diameter, stability and heat resistance are important. The width of the wooden wick should be appropriate to the diameter of the container so that the wax burns evenly and tunnelling or excessive overheating of the edges does not occur. We recommend testing the burning in the selected bottle, jar or pot on a smaller test batch. A stable container with a flat bottom that is intended for candles or can withstand long-term heat exposure is suitable.

How to correctly test the burning of a candle with a wooden wick?

When testing, first fill the selected container with wax according to your formula and let the candle cool down and cure completely. Then light the candle and observe the behaviour of the flame, the formation of the melt pool, smoking and the burning rate. Test in several cycles of burning and extinguishing to verify whether the wick works properly throughout the entire life of the candle. If necessary, adjust the wick length, wax type or container diameter until you achieve the optimal result.

How to safely dispose of and recycle the container after burning a candle with a wooden wick?

If you decide not to reuse the container after the candle has burned down, we recommend recycling it according to the type of material specified in the parameters of the specific packaging on the website. First remove the wax and wick residues, clean the container mechanically and then sort it into the appropriate collection container (for example glass, metal or another material according to the packaging marking). The recycling rules and the recommended sorting method are based on the material composition given with the product in order to ensure environmentally responsible handling of packaging materials.
