Wooden wick 0.2 – black 19.1 mm is a specially designed component intended for the production of designer candles in containers. Thanks to precise workmanship, stable burning and a pleasant visual effect, it is suitable for professional manufacturers as well as artisans who want to give their candles a unique character. It is a practical and aesthetic accessory for various types of containers – from glass jars, pots and tumblers to decorative containers intended for candles.
The wooden wick is intended primarily for use in candle containers such as glass jars, pots, tumblers or other suitable containers. When choosing a specific package, we recommend taking into account its diameter and shape so that the candle burns evenly and safely. Combinations of packages and components that are created directly on Handymade are tested and functional. However, for all combinations we always recommend carrying out your own compatibility test – verify the behaviour of the wick in the selected wax, the size of the flame, the evenness of wax melting and the overall stability of the candle in the specific container. When working with a wooden wick, it is advisable to test different wick lengths, wax types and container sizes in order to achieve an optimal result for your specific candles.
All technical parameters of the packaging are listed in the enclosed Packaging Quality Certificate and in the product parameters.
To choose the right package, you can use the advanced filter, which you will find at the top of the page after clicking on the relevant packaging category. In the advanced filter, you can conveniently set parameters such as neck, size, colour or material and thus display only those bottles, jars, pots or containers that are suitable for your specific product or for the planned candles with a wooden wick.
The wooden wick is usually intended for single use in one candle, however, the container itself (glass jar or pot) can be used repeatedly if hygienic principles are observed. Before pouring new wax, it is necessary to thoroughly clean the container from wax residues and impurities and then clean and disinfect it. For disinfection, we recommend using isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, for example the products IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96 % denatured vegetable. This will ensure that the container is ready for safe repeated use.
When selecting a candle container, its inner diameter, stability and heat resistance are important. The width of the wooden wick should be appropriate to the diameter of the container so that the wax burns evenly and there is no tunnelling or excessive overheating of the edges. We recommend testing the burning in the selected bottle, jar or pot on a smaller test batch. A suitable choice is a stable container with a flat bottom that is intended for candles or can withstand long-term exposure to heat.
For testing, first fill the selected container with wax according to your recipe and let the candle cool down and cure completely. Then light the candle and observe the behaviour of the flame, formation of the melt pool, smoke level and burning rate. Test in several burning and extinguishing cycles to verify whether the wick works correctly throughout the entire lifetime of the candle. If necessary, adjust the length of the wick, the type of wax or the diameter of the container until you achieve the optimal result.
If you decide not to reuse the container after the candle has burned down, we recommend recycling it according to the type of material specified in the parameters of the specific package on the site. First remove the wax and wick residues, clean the container mechanically and then sort it into the appropriate collection bin (for example glass, metal or another material as indicated on the package). The recycling rules and recommended sorting method are based on the material composition given for the product in order to ensure environmentally responsible handling of packaging materials.
