Wooden wick – spiral is a special packaging component intended for the production of natural candles, decorative scented containers and design packaging, where it serves as a stable, aesthetic and evenly burning wick. Thanks to its spiral shape, it is suitable for use in various jars, pots and containers intended for wax, thereby supporting reliable burning and an attractive visual flame effect. The wooden material is ideal for packaging and presenting liquid and solid wax blends, because it ensures stability, even burning and an original appearance of the final product.
When choosing a container for the wooden wick, take into account the diameter of the container, the type of wax and the desired burning time. It is recommended to first create test candles in the selected jar or pot and test whether the wick provides even burning without excessive smoking and tunnelling. For final production, use only those combinations of container and wick that have demonstrated stable and safe burning in the test.
The wooden wick is designed as a consumable component that is gradually burned up during burning, therefore a new piece is used for each new candle. However, the containers, jars and pots in which you pour the candles can be reused if their material allows it. Before refilling, it is always necessary to clean and disinfect the container thoroughly, for example using IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or 96 % denatured plant ethanol, in order to minimize the risk of contamination and deterioration of burning.
Start the testing by pouring a smaller trial series of candles into the selected containers. Observe the behaviour of the wick during burning: flame height, smoking, carbon build-up at the wick tip, wax melting rate and the evenness of the melted surface. Let the candle burn in cycles recommended for the given container size and, after cooling, check whether cracking, excessive overheating of the walls or deformation of the packaging occurs. Only after successful tests do we recommend switching to serial production.
After burning the candle, let the wax cool completely and remove the wax residues mechanically. Then sort the container according to its material into the appropriate collection, for example into containers for glass, metal or plastic, in accordance with the recycling rules stated for the specific type of packaging in the product parameters on the Handymade website. If the container is undamaged, you can reuse it after thorough cleaning and disinfection for further candles or for other purposes in the household or for cosmetic packaging.
To make it easier to choose a suitable bottle, jar or pot, we recommend using the extended filter in the packaging categories. After clicking on the relevant category, you will find the filter at the top of the page, where you can sort the packaging according to parameters such as neck type, size, colour and material. This way you can easily select the container that will best correspond to your wax, cosmetic or aromatic formulation and to the desired design of the final product.
