The wooden wick is a special component designed for the manufacture of design candles in containers. Thanks to its natural material and specific construction, it provides stable burning and a characteristic gentle crackling sound that creates a pleasant sound backdrop while the candle is burning. It is suitable for producing candles from various waxes, where clean burning, aesthetics, and comfort when using the finished product are important.
With the correct choice of wax type, container diameter, and combination with a suitable metal wick holder, the wooden wick with crackling sound effect enables both professional and hobby use. It is ideal for glass containers, jars, and candle glasses, where it provides a stable flame, optimal wax burn-off, and an attractive visual as well as acoustic effect.
When choosing a wooden wick, we recommend starting from the internal diameter of the container and the type of wax used. First select the container in which you want to make the candle and then test the burning with a smaller amount of wax. It is important to observe whether the wax melts evenly to the container walls and whether the flame is not too weak or, on the contrary, too high. When changing the wax composition or the amount of fragrance substances, it is advisable to carry out a new burn test so that the final product is safe and functional.
The wooden wick is designed as a consumable component that gradually chars and shortens while the candle is burning, therefore its repeated use in another candle is generally not recommended. If you want to reuse the container itself, it is possible to remove the remaining wax and wick and refill the container with fresh wax and a new wooden wick. Before the next filling, it is important to thoroughly clean and disinfect the container, ideally using products such as IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or ethanol 96 % denatured vegetal, in order to minimize the risk of contamination and degradation of the new candle.
It is advisable to wash the container before filling, dry it, and then disinfect it so that the inner surface is clean and free from grease or dust. The wooden wick is usually fixed into a metal wick holder, which is attached to the bottom of the container with a heat-resistant adhesive pad or a suitable candle adhesive. The wick must be centered to ensure even wax burn-off across the entire surface. After pouring the wax, we recommend checking the wick and, if necessary, gently correcting its position until the wax has completely solidified.
For clean burning of a candle with a wooden wick, it is important to keep the wick trimmed to the recommended length, which you will verify by test burning with the specific wax type and container. Before each re-lighting of the candle, gently remove the loose charred part of the wick so that the flame is not too high and the risk of smoking is reduced. Always let the candle burn long enough for a full wax pool to form up to the edge of the container, which improves the overall burn quality and extends the life of the candle.
When selecting a suitable container or packaging for your candles, we recommend using the extended filter, which you will find at the top of the page after clicking on the relevant packaging category. This allows you to filter products by parameters such as neck type, size, color, or material and easily choose a bottle, jar, cup, or other container that will match your wax blend and design concept. The extended filter significantly facilitates orientation in the wide range of products and helps shorten the time needed to find the ideal packaging.
After the candle has burned out, we first recommend considering reusing the container – after removing the remaining wax and wick and after thorough cleaning and disinfection, it can serve for making a new candle or as a practical jar or decorative container. If you decide not to use the container further, it is appropriate to follow the recycling instructions according to the material specified in the parameters of the specific product on the website. Glass containers usually belong in the glass collection container after being thoroughly emptied of wax and mechanical residues, while any plastic or metal parts (for example lids or wick holders) must be sorted according to local rules for recycling these materials.
