Product description

Crackling wooden wick 6–4 mm is a special natural component intended for the production of designer candles in glass containers, ceramic jars or other decorative candle packaging. Thanks to its wooden construction, it creates a gentle crackling effect while burning, which resembles the sound of a burning fireplace and gives the finished product a premium and sensory experience. Stable burning, easy handling and a natural appearance make this wooden wick a suitable choice for both professional and hobby home candle making.

Possible uses

  • Production of decorative candles in glass vials, jars and pots
  • Soya, coconut, rapeseed and blended waxes intended for container pouring
  • Paraffin and gel candles with an emphasis on the visual burning effect
  • Aromatic candles with fragrance oils and essential oils in designer containers
  • Gift and limited candle collections in luxurious jars and containers

Packaging advantages

  • Natural material – wood has an authentic effect, supports the ecological appearance of the finished candle and matches well with both minimalist and rustic packaging.
  • Stable burning – a correctly chosen wooden wick ensures even burning of the wax in the container and helps to prevent candle tunnelling.
  • Crackling effect – the gentle crackle while burning increases sensory comfort and distinguishes wooden-wick candles from classic cotton-wick candles.
  • Aesthetic appearance – the wooden strip visually complements glass bottles, medicine bottles, ceramic jars and designer candle containers.
  • Universal use – suitable for various types of container candles, from smaller decorative jars to larger designer containers.

Combining with closures and dispensers

The wooden wick is intended primarily for candles poured into stable containers such as glass vials, jars, pots, tumblers and other candle packaging. Choose a container that has a sufficiently wide mouth and a stable base to ensure safe burning of the candle and optimal utilisation of the crackling effect. The candle packaging should be made of heat-resistant material that is suitable for repeated heating during wick burning. Combinations of candle containers and wooden wicks created directly on Handymade are designed to be functional and aesthetically coordinated. However, for all combinations, we always recommend carrying out your own compatibility test – observing the flame behaviour, wax burning, wick stability and safety during burning.

Technical parameters

All technical parameters of the packaging are given in the attached Packaging Quality Certificate and in the product parameters.

FAQ – Most frequently asked questions

How do I correctly choose the size of the wooden wick for my candle container?

Choose the size of the wooden wick according to the diameter or internal width of the container into which you are pouring the candle. For wider containers, a wider or double wooden wick may be required so that the wax burns evenly right up to the edge. We recommend making a test candle in the specific vial, jar or pot and testing the burning – the flame should be stable, without excessive smoking, and the wax should form a continuous melted surface.

Is the wooden wick suitable for all types of waxes?

Wooden wicks are generally suitable for most container waxes such as soya, coconut, rapeseed, blended and paraffin waxes intended for container pouring. The behaviour of the wick can also be influenced by the composition of the wax blend, as well as by the amount and type of fragrance or essential oils. Therefore, we always recommend carrying out a test pour in the specific container and with the specific wax in order to achieve an optimal flame and crackling effect.

Can I reuse the container for more candles after the candle has burned out?

The container can, if hygiene principles are observed, be repeatedly used for further candles after the candle has burned out. First remove wax residues, wick and impurities mechanically, wash the container thoroughly and before refilling we recommend cleaning and disinfecting it with a suitable agent, for example isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. For this purpose you can use the products IPA 99 – isopropyl alcohol or ethanol 96 denatured in pack sizes available on Handymade: IPA 99 isopropyl alkohol 1 l and Etanol 96 denaturovaný rastlinný 1 l. A container prepared in this way is suitable for re-pouring candles.

How can I safely dispose of or recycle the container after using the wooden wick?

If you decide not to use the candle container any further after the candle has burned out, we recommend recycling it according to the type of material listed in the parameters of the specific packaging on Handymade. Glass vials, medicine bottles and tumblers are usually placed, after cleaning off wax, into glass recycling containers, plastic jars and pots into plastic recycling containers, and ceramic containers into collection systems according to local waste management rules. Always follow the pictogram and material information given for the respective product so that recycling is as effective as possible.

You offer many types of packaging – how can I find the right one for my product?

On Handymade you will find, for each packaging category, an extended filter that helps you quickly choose a suitable vial, medicine bottle, jar or pot for your candles and other products. After clicking on a specific category, the extended filter is located at the top of the page and allows filtering according to several parameters – especially according to neck type, size, colour, material and other properties. Thanks to this, you can easily choose packaging that will correspond to your formulation, design and planned wick type.
