Product description

Wooden wick – Booster, crackling is a special component suitable for the production of designer candles where you want to achieve a natural crackling burning effect. Thanks to precise workmanship and a stable construction, the wick is suitable for various types of containers and decorative candles, where it ensures even burning and a visually attractive flame.

This crackling wooden wick is ideal for candles made from vegetable, soy or blended waxes, where a controlled burn rate and reliable ignition are important. When the correct size is chosen and it is properly tested in a specific container, it allows for stable burning without excessive smoking and creates a pleasant sound reminiscent of wood burning in a fireplace.

Possible uses

  • Production of decorative candles in glass vials, jars and pots
  • Candles in designer containers made of ceramic or metal
  • Natural candles made from vegetable waxes with an emphasis on visual and acoustic effect
  • Candles intended for gift sets in decorative bottles and smaller containers
  • Aromatherapeutic candles with essential oils in glass or tin packaging

Packaging benefits

  • Material stability – the wooden wick is made from high-quality wood with consistent density, which contributes to even candle burning and reduces the risk of uneven wax melting.
  • Protection of the candle content – in combination with a suitable container, the wick helps to ensure controlled burning, which reduces overheating of the walls of the bottle or pot and thus supports safer use of the candle.
  • Universal use – suitable for various types of containers (glass apothecary bottle, cosmetic jar, decorative pot) and various wax blends, which enables universal use in the production of both home-made and professional candles.
  • Aesthetic and natural appearance – the wooden surface of the wick looks premium and fits into natural, eco and minimalist candle designs and packaging solutions.

Combining with closures and dispensers

The wooden wick is intended primarily for container candles that are not closed with dispensers or pumps during use. When producing candles in vials, jars or pots, we recommend choosing suitable packaging with a sufficient diameter so that a safe space is ensured around the wick for the flame and the molten wax. If you use candle containers with a lid, always check that the wick is properly extinguished after the candle has burned out and that the lid is not placed on a still hot container.

Combinations of containers and components that are created directly on Handymade are tested and functional. However, for all your own combinations, we always recommend carrying out an in-house compatibility test – in particular the behaviour of the wick during burning in the specific packaging, the flame intensity, wax consumption and overall safety of use.

FAQ – Most frequent questions

How do I choose the correct size of wooden wick for my container?

When choosing a wooden wick, it is important to take into account mainly the diameter of the container and the type of wax. We recommend starting with test pours in the specific vial or jar and monitoring whether the flame creates even wax melting without tunnelling or excessive smoking. It is advisable to test several sizes at once and compare the results after complete cooling and relighting of the candle.

Is it possible to use this wooden wick repeatedly?

The wooden wick is designed for use in one specific candle; after it has burned out, it is not normally changed and is not intended to be repeatedly transferred to another container. However, you can reuse the container itself – vial, pot or jar – provided that you follow hygiene principles, mechanically remove wax residues and thoroughly clean and disinfect the inner surface of the packaging. For disinfection, we recommend using a suitable alcohol-based product, for example isopropyl alcohol or denatured plant ethanol, and the packaging must be completely dry before refilling.

What should I watch out for when safely using a candle with a wooden wick?

For candles with a wooden wick, it is important that the container is stable, heat-resistant and placed on a flat, non-flammable surface. It is appropriate to keep the wick at a reasonable length by gently trimming it before lighting, which supports clean burning. Never leave the candle unattended, do not place it in a draught or near flammable materials and follow the safety pictograms given for products intended for candle making.

How do I correctly recycle the container after the candle with a wooden wick has burned out?

After the candle has burned out, first allow the container to cool down completely, remove the remaining wax and the metal or adhesive wick base. Wax residues can be carefully loosened mechanically or briefly heated so that they can be removed more easily. The subsequent recycling method depends on the material of the container, which you can find specified in the parameters of the specific packaging on Handymade. Glass containers normally belong in sorted glass, plastic ones in plastics and metal ones in metal packaging waste, unless local sorting rules state otherwise. If you decide not to reuse the container, we recommend placing it, after cleaning, into the appropriate sorted waste according to local recycling guidelines.

You offer many types of packaging – how can I find the right one for my product?

On Handymade, when choosing suitable packaging for candles as well as other cosmetics or liquid products, you can use the advanced filter located at the top of the page after clicking on the relevant packaging category. Thanks to this, you can quickly narrow down the offer according to the type of neck, size, colour or material of the container and thus easily find the vial, jar or pot that best matches your formulation and the desired design.
