Wooden wick 0.4 “Booster” crackling is a popular solution for making design candles, where in addition to light, the atmosphere and sound also play an important role. Thanks to its special construction, it creates a pleasant crackling reminiscent of burning wood in a fireplace and is suitable for various types of waxes – from soy wax to blends with additional additives. The wick is used in combination with a matching metal sustainer and a suitable candle container, for example a glass jar, tin or decorative container intended for candles.
Before each subsequent lighting of the candle, we recommend trimming the wooden wick to approximately 3–5 mm. Remove the burnt, brittle part of the wick with your fingers or small scissors so that the flame is not too high and the burning is even. Regular maintenance of the wick reduces sooting and improves the combustion of the wax in the container.
The wooden wick is generally suitable for most common candle waxes, such as soy, rapeseed, coconut or paraffin blends. However, the resulting burning always depends on the specific formula, the container diameter and the additives (fragrances, colorants). Therefore, we recommend creating a test candle and testing the behaviour of the wick under the conditions in which the candle will actually be used.
You can use the wooden wick in various heat‑resistant containers, such as glass jars, tins or special candle containers, and combine them with suitable lids to protect the candle during storage. When changing the type of container, always check that a safe distance of the flame from the walls and rim is maintained and carry out a test burn to verify the stability of the flame and complete burnout of the wax.
After the candle has completely burned out, the wick is usually fixed into the metal sustainer and may be partially damaged by heat and wax residues. From the point of view of safety and burning stability, we recommend using a new wooden wick when making a new candle and also checking the condition of the metal sustainer. If you reuse the container, always clean it thoroughly before refilling, remove wax residues and disinfect the surface with a suitable alcohol, for example IPA 99% isopropyl alcohol or ethanol 96% denatured plant‑based.
If you decide not to use the container and metal sustainer further, we recommend recycling them according to the recommendations resulting from the material composition stated in the parameters of the specific packaging. The glass container can be placed in the glass collection container after removing wax residues and metal parts, and the metal elements (sustainer) into metal waste. Before recycling, let the container cool down, mechanically remove wax residues and adapt the packaging to sorting in accordance with local waste collection rules.
To make it easier to choose a suitable vial, tin or jar, you can use the extended filter located at the top of the page after clicking on a specific packaging category. Using the filter, you can narrow down the offer according to the neck type, size, colour and material, and thus quickly find packaging that will correspond to your formulation, design and method of dispensing or closing.
