Crackling wooden wick 9.5 mm is a special component designed for candle making, ideal for smaller containers and decorative wax products. Thanks to its construction from carefully processed wood, it provides stable burning, a pleasant visual effect and a typical gentle crackling reminiscent of a fireplace, which enhances the atmosphere while the candle is burning. It is suitable for use in combination with various types of waxes and containers and is easily integrated into jars, glass vials, smaller pots or decorative candle cups.
Crackling wooden wick 9.5 mm can be used with several types of waxes, such as soy, vegetable or paraffin blends. Each wax, however, has a different density and burning rate, therefore we always recommend doing a test in the specific container, with the specific wax and the added fragrance. Based on the test burning, you can fine-tune the wick height, the amount of wax and fragrance so that the candle burns evenly and without excessive smoking.
The wick should be placed exactly in the centre of the container so that the wax melts evenly over the entire surface. In practice, a metal or wooden wick holder is often used, or temporary fixing with the help of an adhesive dot on the bottom of the vial or jar. After pouring the wax, it is important to leave the candle undisturbed until the wax has completely solidified. During the first burning, let the candle burn long enough for an even wax “pool” to form up to the edges of the container, which prevents tunnelling.
Yes, candles can be filled into closable vials, jars and cups, which reduce fragrance loss and protect the wax from dust. When storing in a closed container, make sure that the wick has enough space to burn after opening and that the surrounding packaging material can withstand the temperature during candle burning. Before first sale or gifting, we recommend testing the behaviour of the candle in the specific packaging throughout the entire burning time.
Yes, vials, jars and cups used for candles can be reused if hygienic principles are observed – for example for another candle or as a practical container in the household or in cosmetic production. Before refilling, the packaging must be thoroughly cleaned of wax and soot residues and then disinfected using a suitable alcohol, for example IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96 % denatured plant-based. This minimises the risk of contamination of the contents and ensures the long-term stability of the new product.
If you decide not to reuse the container after the candle, it is appropriate to sort it into separated waste according to the material specified in the parameters of the specific packaging on the site. Glass vials and medicine bottles usually belong in the glass container, plastic containers in the appropriate plastic sorting and metal lids in the metal waste, if they are collected separately in the given municipality. Before recycling, we recommend removing wax and wick residues to facilitate further processing of the material.
To select a suitable vial, jar or cup, you can use the advanced filter in the packaging material categories. After clicking on the selected category, you will find the filter at the top of the page, where it is possible to sort packaging according to several parameters – for example according to neck type, size, colour or material. Thanks to this, you can easily choose the container ideal for your candle, cosmetic product or other preparation and combine it with suitable accessories available on Handymade.
