Crackling double wooden wick is a special packaging component designed for the production of natural candles in glass or tin containers, where it also fulfils a visual and sound function. Thanks to its solid structure and a suitable combination of wood, it is stable during burning, which makes it a reliable solution for products with a higher content of wax, oils and aromatic components. Packaging containers complemented with this wick are suitable for filling both liquid and firmer wax mixtures which, after solidifying, form a solid, compact content without the risk of deformation of the packaging.
The wooden wick is intended for use in containers without a closure during burning, however, when storing and transporting candles it is possible to combine the packaging with protective lids and closures, which protect the wax surface against dust and impurities. When choosing bottles, medicine bottles, pots and jars for candles, we recommend choosing packaging whose diameter and shape allow safe burning and sufficient oxygen supply.
Combinations of packaging and closures created directly on Handymade are tested and functional. However, for all combinations we always recommend carrying out your own compatibility test (tightness, dosing and behaviour of the packaging in contact with the specific formulation).

The wooden wick is in general suitable for natural and blended waxes, but for every formulation we recommend performing your own test pours. In this way you will verify the behaviour of the flame, the burning rate and the wax consumption in the specific container. When changing the type of wax, colourant or fragrance, it is advisable to repeat the test.
When selecting the packaging, monitor above all the internal diameter of the container and its stability. The container should be heat resistant and intended for candle pouring. We always recommend trying several test variants so that the flame is neither too weak nor excessively large and so that the wax melts evenly right up to the edges of the container.
The glass, tin or ceramic container for the candle itself is, if undamaged, in general suitable for repeated use. However, before pouring new wax it is necessary to thoroughly clean the packaging from wax residues and soot and then clean and disinfect it. For disinfection we recommend using the products IPA 99% isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96% denatured plant-based, while it is important to observe basic hygiene principles and not to damage the surface of the packaging.
If you decide not to reuse the container after the candle has burned out, first remove the wax residues and any metal or wooden components. Then sort the packaging according to the material specified in the parameters of the particular product – glass containers belong in the glass container, tin cans in metal waste and plastic parts in plastic waste. By following these principles, you will ensure proper recycling and reduce the amount of waste.
