Wooden Wick 02 Red is intended for the production of designer candles in glass or ceramic containers and decorative packaging. Thanks to its stable shape, the natural strength of the wood and a suitable construction, it provides even burning of the candle, a clean flame and an attractive visual effect. It is suitable for candles made from various wax blends, where it helps to optimize burning and the utilization of the volume of the container.
The wooden wick is used in combination with candle packaging – glass bottles, medicine bottles, pots and decorative containers designed for wax pouring. When designing the candle, it is important to take into account the diameter and shape of the container so that the wick supports even burning and an appropriate flame size. Candle containers can be complemented with decorative or practical closures to protect the candle during storage, transport and sale. Combinations of containers and closures that are created directly on Handymade are tested and functional. However, for all combinations we always recommend performing your own compatibility test (sealing, dispensing and the behaviour of the container in contact with the specific wax formulation, colourants and fragrance substances).
All technical parameters of the packaging are listed in the attached Packaging Quality Certificate and in the product parameters.
Adjust the choice of wick to the diameter and shape of the container in which the candle will be poured. For wider jars and bottles a wider wick or a combination of several wicks may be necessary so that the wax melts evenly all the way to the edges. We recommend always making a test candle and testing the burning at different wick lengths and burning conditions (first burning time, draught, ambient temperature).
The wooden wick can be used with most common candle waxes. However, each wax and blend (including colourants and fragrance oils) burns slightly differently, so it is important to perform a burn test for the specific formulation. Monitor the flame size, carbon build-up at the end of the wick and the rate of wax consumption, and if necessary adjust the wick size or the wax composition.
After the candle has burned out, you can reuse the container if it is in good condition and without cracks. Mechanically remove the remaining wax and then clean the container thoroughly so that no soot or fragrance residues remain in it. Before refilling, the container must be cleaned and disinfected with a suitable product, for example IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or ethanol 96 % denatured vegetable. Only by following these hygiene principles is repeated use of the container safe and suitable for new candles.
If you decide not to use the container further after the candle has burned out, we recommend recycling it according to the material specified in the parameters of the specific product on Handymade. Glass containers belong in glass collection, plastic packaging in the appropriate plastic sorting container and metal components (for example lids) in metal waste, if the local sorting system allows it. The wooden wick and remaining wax belong in mixed waste. Before recycling, remove as much wax and metal or adhesive components as possible so that sorting of the packaging is efficient.
For easier selection of a suitable bottle, jar or pot there is an advanced filter, which you will find at the top of the page after clicking on the selected packaging category. In the advanced filter you can sort products according to parameters such as neck type, size, colour and packaging material. Thanks to this, you will quickly find containers that meet your requirements for volume, design and closure method and you can easily assign suitable wicks or other components to them.
