The wooden cross wick represents a modern and visually attractive solution for the production of candles in jars, glass containers and decorative packaging. It is designed to ensure stable burning, even melting of the wax and a pleasant visual as well as sound effect while burning. Thanks to the natural material, it is suitable for artisanal, gift and design candle production in smaller series as well as for hobby use.
Always adapt the choice of wick to the inner diameter of the container, the type of wax and the amount of fragrance component used. It is recommended to carry out several test pours in the same vial or jar in which you will sell the finished candles. Observe in particular the evenness of burning, the width of the melted wax pool and the height of the flame. If necessary, choose a different wick size or adjust the wax composition.
The wooden cross wick is suitable for use with several types of waxes, such as vegetable, paraffin or blended wax compositions. However, when changing the type of wax, we always recommend doing a burn test in the same container, in order to verify the stability of the flame, the burning rate and the behaviour of the wax during longer use of the candle. Each formulation may burn slightly differently, therefore testing is crucial for a safe and high-quality result.
The container in which the wooden cross wick was used can be reused after the candle has burned out, provided that hygienic and safety principles are observed. Before refilling, it is necessary to remove the wax residues, clean it thoroughly and disinfect it, ideally using a suitable alcohol, for example isopropyl alcohol or denatured ethanol. Only after the container has completely dried can you insert a new wick and pour in fresh wax. When reusing, always check whether the container is not damaged or cracked.
If you decide not to use the container further after the candle has burned out, first remove the wax and wick residues and sort the packaging according to the material specified in the parameters of the specific product (for example glass containers into glass recycling, plastic components into the respective plastic collection, etc.). The recycling rules derive from the material type of the given vial or jar; for each packaging we recommend following the marking on the packaging and the information in the product parameter table on Handymade.sk.
The easiest way to select a suitable vial, jar or tin is to use the advanced filter in the packaging category. After clicking on the selected category, you will find the filter at the top of the page, where you can clearly filter the packaging by neck type, size, colour and material. This way you can quickly display only those packaging options that are suitable for your candles, cosmetic products or other formulations.
