Cross wooden wick represents a modern and visually attractive solution for the production of natural candles in glass containers, tins or other decorative packaging. Thanks to its specific shape, it provides a more stable flame, more even burning and a pleasant acoustic effect of gentle crackling, which enhances the experience of using your candles. The cross wooden wick is particularly suitable for waxes with a higher proportion of natural components, where it helps to achieve efficient burning and an aesthetic appearance of the candle surface.
The choice of wooden wick depends mainly on the internal diameter of the container, the type of wax and the amount of fragrance. For wider containers, a larger or cross wick is generally suitable, as it can ensure even melting of the wax up to the edges of the container. We recommend starting with a trial batch of candles and testing the behaviour of the wick in at least several burning cycles. Based on the result, you can shorten the wick, choose a narrower or conversely a wider variant so that the flame is neither too weak nor too high and the wax does not form a tunnel.
The container must be thoroughly cleaned of dust and impurities before filling and then degreased so that the adhesive surface of the holder or fixation point has the best possible contact with the surface. The wick is usually inserted into a metal or other suitable base, which is glued to the centre of the bottom of the container. Make sure it is precisely centred so that the flame distributes the burning evenly. Pour the wax at the recommended temperature according to the type of wax and let the candle cool completely to a stable temperature before the first lighting.
You can reuse the candle container if you follow hygienic principles. After the candle has burned out, remove the wax residues, mechanically clean the bottom from the old wick holder and wash the container thoroughly. Before refilling, the packaging must always be cleaned and disinfected, for example by using the products IPA 99 – isopropyl alcohol or ethanol 96 % denatured plant-based, which you can find on the pages /ipa-99-isopropyl-alkohol-1-l/ and /etanol-96-denaturovany-rastlinny-1-l/. A container prepared in this way is suitable for new wax pouring and fitting with a fresh wooden wick.
Store finished candles in a dry and cooler environment, protected from direct sunlight, so that undesirable softening or discolouration of the wax does not occur. When transporting, use suitable packaging, such as cardboard boxes, filling materials or protective inserts, so that glass vials, medicine bottles or tins are not damaged by impact. If you close the candles with caps or lids, ensure that they are completely cooled, which will prevent condensation and unwanted marks on the inner walls of the packaging.
The simplest way is to use the extended filter in the packaging category. After clicking on the relevant category (for example vials, medicine bottles, tins or jars), you will find the extended filter in the upper part of the page. Using it, you can conveniently filter packaging according to neck type, size, colour and material. Thanks to this, you can quickly choose a suitable container for candles with a wooden wick as well as for other products that you plan to pack in a unified design line.
