Product description
A blue glass bottle with a capacity of 100 ml and a fitted nasal sprayer pump forms a ready-made set for filling with thin water-based preparations that are applied in small, measured doses. With each press, the pump releases approximately 0.12 ml of fine mist, so the preparation does not spill and you keep its consumption under control. It is most often filled with hydrosols, toners and aqueous solutions of active ingredients.
Both the bottle and the pump are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The set is not intended for contact with food.
What it is suitable for
The pump is designed for liquids with a viscosity close to water. It is therefore suitable for:
- Hydrosols and facial mists – the spray evenly covers the skin without running off.
- Toners and aqueous solutions of active ingredients – the small dose makes it easier to apply precisely to smaller areas, for example the décolleté.
- Aromatic aqueous solutions with a fragrance component dissolved by means of a solubiliser – provided that they stay clear and thin.
The pump cannot handle thick serums, gels or oil-based preparations. The mist would be uneven or the nozzle would clog. The shape of the attachment is based on a classic nasal spray, but the narrow nozzle with a long reach is useful wherever you need to apply a very small amount of liquid in a targeted way.
Nominal and total volume
The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for under normal filling. The brimful volume, given in the parameters, is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them provides a reserve for the dip tube of the pump and for possible expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Fill only up to the nominal volume. If the bottle is overfilled, part of the contents is pushed out through the neck after the pump is fitted.
Preparation and filling
Before first use, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry completely. Rinse the pump with clean water by pressing it several times, then spray it with alcohol and leave it to drain. Residual moisture in the tube would dilute the first doses and could disturb the preservative system of the preparation.
After filling, screw the pump firmly onto the 18/410 neck finish and press it several times to prime it until the tube and chamber are filled. Only then does it dispense evenly.
Do not cut the tube before fitting. It reaches the bottom of the bottle, so the pump draws out the contents until the bottle is almost completely empty.
Good to know
The bottle is made of glass and withstands normal cleaning with warm water, but a sudden temperature shock is not good for it. Do not pour hot liquid into it, and let the preparation cool down before filling.
The pump combines plastic parts with a steel and a glass component. For preparations with a higher proportion of alcohol or with essential oils, we recommend checking that the plastic does not change its appearance, flexibility or tightness over time. The same applies if you combine the bottle with another closure of the same neck type: always verify tightness, dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation. You can find ready-made sets and closures sold separately with an 18/410 neck in the Handymade range.
Water-based preparations without a preservative do not last long in a spray bottle. The pump limits contact of the contents with air, but it does not prevent microbial contamination.
After thorough cleaning and disinfection, the bottle can be reused. We recommend replacing the pump when you change the preparation, because residues in the tube and chamber are difficult to remove completely. Glass belongs in glass recycling. The pump consists of several materials, so separate it from the bottle before recycling.
