Yes, in many emulsions it can function as the main emulsifying system. However, in very light, very fluid or, on the contrary, very greasy formulas it can be appropriate to add a stabilizer of the aqueous phase or a structure‑building lipid component.
No, cetearyl alcohol is a fatty alcohol with a wax‑like structure. In cosmetics it is used to improve the consistency, stability and mildness of the emulsion, not as a degreasing or drying solvent.
The final viscosity depends on the amount of emulsifier, the type of oil phase, the water content, the homogenization method and the thickeners used. Some emulsions reach their final consistency only after the structure has fully set after manufacturing.
This is not its main application. Plantasens HP 30 is designed primarily for emulsions in which the aqueous and oil phases are combined. In an anhydrous balm it would not make use of its main emulsifying function.
Yes, it can also be used with plant butters, but a higher level of solid lipids changes spreadability, thickness and skin feel. With butters that have a higher melting point, proper heating and thorough mixing during cooling are important.
Yes, the emulsifier is suitable for vegan cosmetic formulations, provided that all other components in the formula also meet the requirements for a vegan composition.
