Product description

White plastic bottle with black spray pump, 100 ml

Ready-made set of bottle and spray pump for thin liquid preparations applied by spraying – facial tonics, hydrolats, hair and body mists, fabric and air fresheners, or disinfectant solutions. The white wall made of PET reduces light exposure to the contents. Plastic is lightweight and unbreakable, making the packaging suitable for travel, a handbag or a desk, where glass would be unnecessarily heavy and fragile. The 100 ml volume is sufficient for regular use while being depleted before the contents lose their freshness.

The set as a whole is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics. The bottle alone holds a certificate for direct food contact; the spray pump does not. The set is therefore intended for cosmetic and technical use, not for food liquids.

How the set works

  • Bottle – a lightweight white PET bottle with a standard 18/410 neck, which won't break when dropped and won't deform under normal use. The white colour conceals the contents, which is appreciated for light-sensitive products.
  • Spray pump – a black plastic spray pump with a transparent dip tube sized to match the bottle height. The contents can thus be dispensed almost to the last drop. One press releases approximately 0.14 ml of fine mist – a dose suitable for applying tonic to the face or a mist to hair without over-wetting.
  • Appearance – the combination of white bottle and black spray pump looks clean and works well with both colour and plain labels.

Nominal and total volume

For every bottle, a distinction is made between nominal volume and total volume to the brim. Nominal volume is the quantity the packaging is designed for during regular filling. Total volume is the physical capacity up to the neck. The difference between them is the allowance for the spray pump dip tube, which displaces part of the volume when fitted, and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim – otherwise the contents will spill over the neck when fitting the spray pump.

What is suitable for the spray bottle

The spray pump works reliably with contents that have viscosity close to water. These include:

  • Facial tonics and hydrolats – fine mist spreads evenly across the face, no need to apply with hands.
  • Hair and body mists – aqueous or alcoholic solutions with solubilised essential oils or fragrance compositions.
  • Air fresheners and fabric sprays – alcoholic or aqueous bases with fragrance.
  • Disinfectant solutions for hands and work surfaces – alcoholic solutions of common concentrations.
  • Technical use in the workshop – for example, spraying alcohol onto the surface of cold-process soap against soda ash, or moistening powder pigments.

Conversely, thick emulsions, gels and oils with higher viscosity are not suitable. The spray pump either cannot draw them in, or releases them as a stream rather than a mist and eventually clogs. Equally unsuitable are preparations with undissolved particles (scrubs, suspensions) that block the nozzle.

The PET bottle is intended for aqueous and alcoholic solutions. With undiluted essential oils, higher proportions of fragrance compositions or solvents, verify in advance that the bottle and spray pump material does not react with the specific formulation – watch for cloudiness, softening of the wall or a change in the scent of the contents.

What is good to know before filling

  • Preparing the packaging – before the first fill, rinse the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Rinse the spray pump with clean water and pump several times to remove any manufacturing residues.
  • Priming the spray pump – after fitting onto a full bottle, several empty presses are needed before the dip tube and pump fill with contents. This is normal, not a defect.
  • Leak-tightness during transport – the spray pump is not a hermetic seal like a cap. When transported on its side or with large temperature fluctuations, a small amount of contents may leak. When shipping to customers, transport the bottle upright, or test the seal in advance.
  • Heat – PET is not designed for filling hot contents. Allow the finished product to cool to room temperature before filling, otherwise the bottle may deform.
  • Repeated use – both the bottle and the spray pump can be used multiple times. Between refills, clean the packaging in the same way as before the first fill. When switching to a different type of contents (from alcoholic to aqueous and vice versa), it is safer to use a new spray pump.
  • Preservation of contents – the spray pump limits contact of the contents with fingers, but aqueous preparations still require a preservative. The packaging itself does not protect them against microbial spoilage.
  • Recycling – the bottle is PET, the spray pump is made of polypropylene and consists of several parts. Before disposal, unscrew the spray pump from the bottle and sort both parts as plastic.

Closures with the same neck type as stated in the parameters, and other ready-made bottle and closure combinations, can be found in the Handymade range. With a custom combination, always verify the seal and dispensing directly with your formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 100 ml plastic spray bottle suitable for hydrolat or facial tonic?
Yes, hydrolats and facial tonics are among the most suitable fills for this set. They are thin aqueous contents that the spray pump releases as a fine mist without running, so they can be applied evenly and without touching with hands. The white PET bottle also reduces light exposure, which slows the degradation of sensitive ingredients. Disinfect the bottle before the first fill and allow it to dry completely.
Can oil be sprayed from the white PET bottle with spray pump?
Only thin oily sprays, not thick oils. The spray pump is designed for contents with viscosity close to water. Light dry oils or oil mists with low viscosity will work; thicker oils are released as a stream and the pump will eventually clog. With oily or fragrance-based contents, verify in advance that the PET wall and spray pump do not react with the formulation.
Does the white PET bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, the white bottle wall reduces light access and the contents cannot be seen from outside. For common tonics, hydrolats and mists this is sufficient protection. It also means that the bottle is opaque and the remaining contents cannot be estimated by sight. Bear this in mind in the label or instructions for customer-facing products.
Is the bottle and spray pump set also suitable for food?
No, the set as a whole is not intended for food use. The food contact certificate applies to the white PET bottle alone. The black spray pump does not have such a certificate, so the entire combination is declared only for contact with cosmetics and for technical use. For food liquids, choose a bottle with a closure that also has a food contact certificate.
How many doses does the 100 ml spray bottle deliver?
Approximately 700 presses. One press of the spray pump releases approximately 0.14 ml, so with a full 100 ml fill this corresponds to approximately seven hundred doses. The actual number depends on the viscosity of the contents, the force of the press and how much liquid remains below the level of the dip tube. For a facial tonic with regular use, this means several months of supply.
How to clean the spray bottle before reuse?
Rinse the bottle with warm water, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Submerge the spray pump dip tube in clean water, pump several times, then let it pump empty to remove any remaining contents from the nozzle and pump. If the previous fill was oily or fragranced, residues are difficult to remove from plastic and a new spray pump is safer for a new fill.
