Product description

Amber glass medicine bottle 30 ml with a plastic pump in a glossy black and gold finish and a clear overcap is a set for facial and hair serums, oil blends and other liquid products that are dispensed in small amounts and need to stay protected from light. Amber glass limits the amount of light reaching the contents. The pump delivers the same dose with every press, so the product does not need to be opened, poured or scooped out with your fingers during use.

The clear overcap protects the pump head from accidental pressing and dust during transport. The glossy black and gold finish is used mainly for finished products intended for sale or as a gift, when the packaging should look cohesive.

Both the bottle and the pump are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. You will find the declarations of conformity on the product page.

What it is suitable for

  • Facial serums and fluids – liquid to slightly thick products of which a few drops are applied. The pump dispenses precisely and the contents do not come into contact with the skin of your hands.
  • Oil serums and vegetable oil blends – amber glass limits the effect of light, which speeds up oxidation in vegetable oils.
  • Hair and beard oils – the small volume and small dose suit products where you work with just a few drops.
  • Samples and trial batches – a volume of 30 ml is enough to test a formulation with customers without filling a large bottle.

Dispensing and using the pump

One full press delivers approximately 0.3 ml. This lets you calculate the dose for a single use in advance and state it in the instructions, for example two presses for the face and neck. Before first use, prime the pump by pressing it several times until the tube fills and the dose starts coming out evenly.

The pump is designed for liquid and free-flowing products. Thick creams, high-viscosity gels and products with solid particles (scrubs, suspensions) will not pass through it or will clog the mechanism. With very thin water-based solutions, we recommend checking that dispensing is clean and that the head does not drip.

Test how the pump behaves with your specific formulation on one bottle before you fill the whole batch. Check that the dose comes out evenly, that the head does not drip after pressing and that firmer ingredients do not settle in the tube.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume of 30 ml is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The total brimful volume given in the parameters is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference is a reserve for the tube and the lower part of the pump, which take up part of the space once screwed on, and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. Fill up to the nominal volume. If you fill to the brim, the contents will overflow through the neck when the pump is fitted.

Good to know

  • Preparation before first filling – wash and rinse the bottle, disinfect it with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and leave it to dry completely. Residual water does not belong in oil-based or anhydrous products.
  • Pump and cleaning – the inside of the pump and the tube are harder to clean than glass. If you reuse the set with a different formulation, we recommend a new pump; the bottle can be used again after washing and disinfection.
  • Glass and heat – do not pour a hot mixture into the bottle straight from the beaker and do not cool a filled bottle rapidly, as a sudden change in temperature can crack the glass. Fill only once the product has cooled.
  • Essential oils and solvents – the pump is made of polypropylene and aluminium. For products with a higher proportion of essential oils or solvents, check whether the material changes over time (discolouration, a stiffening mechanism, a change in the scent of the contents).
  • Other closures – other closures with the same neck type, given in the parameters, also fit the bottle. You will find ready-made combinations in the Handymade range. If you combine parts yourself, check the seal and dispensing with your specific formulation.
  • Recycling – the glass bottle goes into glass recycling; the pump is a combination of plastic and aluminium and should be separated from the bottle before disposal.

Only the glass bottle on its own has a certificate for direct contact with food. The pump does not have one, so the set as a whole is not intended for filling with food and is used for cosmetic products.

Frequently asked questions

Does the amber glass medicine bottle with a pump protect the contents from light?
Yes, amber glass limits the amount of light reaching the contents, so it suits oil serums and products with light-sensitive active ingredients. It does not provide complete protection, so keep the filled packaging away from direct sunlight and heat. Clear glass would show the contents but would let light through without restriction.
How much does the pump deliver per press?
Approximately 0.3 ml with a full press and a filled tube. For a serum this corresponds to a few drops, and a typical dose for the face is one to two presses. The actual dose depends on the viscosity of the product and on whether the tube is completely filled, so we recommend measuring it with a new formulation.
Is the medicine bottle with a pump suitable for thick creams?
No, the pump with a tube is designed for liquid and free-flowing products such as serums, fluids and oil blends. Thick creams, firm gels and products with particles will not pass through the tube and will clog the mechanism. For creams, use a jar or a bottle with a pump designed for thick textures.
Can the amber medicine bottle 30 ml with a pump be reused?
Yes, the glass bottle can be used again after washing, disinfecting with alcohol and drying. The pump is harder to clean, as the inside of the pump and the tube cannot be washed out reliably. It can be reused when refilling with the same product; if you change the formulation, we recommend a new pump.
Can I use the medicine bottle with a pump for food, such as edible oil?
The set as a whole is not declared for contact with food. Only the glass bottle on its own has a certificate for direct contact with food; the plastic pump does not have one. With the pump, the packaging is therefore used for cosmetic products, not for food.
Is the pump also suitable for water-based toners and hydrosols?
It also dispenses thin water-based products, but with these you should check that the head does not drip after pressing. A sprayer, which disperses the contents over the skin, is used more often for toners and hydrosols. The pump is better suited to products that are applied in drops and spread.
