Product description
A green glass bottle with a roll-on applicator and a black cap is a ready-made set for applying liquid cosmetic products in small volumes. It is particularly suitable for perfume oils, blends of essential oils in a carrier oil, oil serums for small blemishes, eye area products or oil care for the cuticles. The nominal volume of 15 ml suits products that are used by the drop and carried around in a bag.
The set consists of a medicine bottle with an 18/410 neck finish, an insert with a metal roller ball in a clear plastic seat, and a black polypropylene cap, which is screwed on over the insert and closes the applicator. All three parts are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products.
What it is suitable for
- Perfume oils and fragrance blends – the ball applies a thin layer directly to the pulse points, without dripping and without fingers touching the contents.
- Oil serums for local use – application to a small area, for example around the eyes, on the lips or on individual spots on the face.
- Blends of essential oils in a carrier oil – the small volume is used up while the blend is still fresh.
- Cuticle oil – the ball dispenses precisely and the contents do not run.
- Samples and test batches – the 15 ml volume allows you to try out a fragrance or recipe before filling a larger pack.
How the set works
The insert with the ball is fitted onto the neck of the bottle by pressing it in. The metal ball sits in a clear plastic seat and rotates as it moves over the skin, picking up the contents from the bottle and spreading them evenly. The dose per stroke is small, so the roll-on is suitable for products with a higher concentration of fragrance or active ingredients, where precise application is an advantage.
The black plastic cap is screwed onto the 18/410 thread and covers the ball, so that the contents do not leak out while the bottle is being carried and dirt does not collect on the ball. If you would like to choose closures for the bottle on its own yourself, in the Handymade range you will find closures with the same neck type as well as other ready-made combinations. For every custom combination, we recommend checking the tightness and behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.
Filling and volume
The nominal volume is the volume the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The total brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck and is given in the parameters. The difference between them provides a reserve for the insert with the ball, which takes up part of the neck once fitted, and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle is therefore filled up to the nominal volume. If it is filled to the brim, the contents overflow when the insert is pressed in and may later seep around the ball.
Pour the contents in through a narrow funnel or with a dropper, fit the insert with the ball and only then screw on the cap. After assembly, turn the bottle ball-side down and run it over your palm several times so that the ball is wetted and begins to dispense the contents evenly.
Good to know
The roll-on applicator dispenses liquid products with low to medium viscosity. Vegetable oils, perfume oils and liquid serums pass over the ball well. Thick gels, balms and emulsions with higher viscosity do not get out past the ball or are applied unevenly. Very thin alcohol-based products may leak around the ball when the bottle is tilted. We always recommend testing how a specific recipe behaves in the applicator on one piece before filling the whole batch.
Before the first filling, wash the bottle, the insert and the cap, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. Residual water in the neck or in the ball seat would get into an anhydrous oil product. After thorough washing and disinfection, the glass bottle can be used again. We recommend replacing the insert with the ball when you change the contents, because fragrance compounds from the previous contents are difficult to wash out of the plastic seat.
Do not fill the glass with hot contents and do not expose it to sudden temperature changes. When fitting the insert, do not press on the empty bottle over a hard surface, so that the neck is not damaged.
The insert and the cap are made of polypropylene. It is advisable to check compatibility with a specific concentration of essential oils or with solvents in the finished formulation, especially for longer storage.
The whole set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. It is not approved for contact with food, so do not use it for edible oils or other food liquids. The glass bottle belongs in glass recycling, the plastic cap and the insert with the ball in plastic recycling. Take the set apart before recycling.
