Product description

The 50 ml glass roll-on bottle is designed to be filled with fragrance oils, essential oil blends in a carrier oil, aromatherapy roll-ons and light serums that are applied directly to the skin. The set consists of three parts: a bottle made of frosted glass, a metal roller ball in a plastic socket and a black plastic cap. The frosted glass lets you see how much content is left in the bottle.

The roller ball dispenses the content in small amounts without spilling, so the roll-on is suitable for products applied to a specific spot: the wrists, temples, neck or the area behind the ear. The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products, and the declaration of conformity is available with the product.

How the set works

The bottle has an 18/410 neck finish. After filling, the socket with the ball is fitted onto it and the cap is then screwed on. The ball is made of steel, and both the socket and the cap are made of polypropylene.

  • Glass bottle – the main part of the set. Glass does not react with oils or essential oils, so it can also be used for more concentrated fragrance blends.
  • Metal roller ball in a socket – it rolls on contact with the skin and transfers a thin layer of the content.
  • Black cap – it closes the bottle and protects the ball from dirt and from residual content drying on its surface.

What it is suitable for

A roll-on works best with low-viscosity liquids. This bottle is particularly suitable for:

  • Fragrance oils – a fragrance composition in jojoba or fractionated coconut oil, or in another carrier oil.
  • Aromatherapy blends – essential oils diluted in a carrier oil for spot application.
  • Light facial serums – oil-based or water-based serums without thickeners, applied to a small area.
  • Cuticle oil blends – precise dispensing without a dropper.

Thick gels, creams and contents with solid particles are dispensed poorly through the ball and may clog the socket. For a thicker serum, we recommend filling one piece first and checking whether the ball transfers the content evenly.

Filling and volume

The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is intended for under normal filling. The total brimful volume, stated in the parameters, is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the socket with the ball, which takes up part of the space in the neck when fitted, and for the expansion of the content with temperature changes. Fill up to the nominal volume. If the bottle were filled to the brim, the content would be pushed out when the socket is fitted.

Fill the bottle using a small funnel or a syringe. With the first few pieces, try fitting the socket with the ball on an empty bottle. The socket must be pressed onto the neck straight and firmly until it seats, otherwise the content may leak around the edge when the bottle is turned upside down.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash all three parts, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. Drops of water in the bottle would end up in the oil-based contents.

The set can be used repeatedly. Once removed, the socket with the ball is harder to clean than the bottle itself, and oil residues in it retain the scent of the previous content. When changing the fragrance, it is worth replacing the socket with a new one. For concentrated essential oils or blends with a high proportion of alcohol, we recommend checking how the socket behaves after several weeks of contact with the particular formulation.

The glass bottle belongs in glass recycling, while the plastic parts and the ball are separated before recycling. Closures with the same neck type and other ready-made bottle + closure combinations can be found in the Handymade range. For your own combination, we recommend testing the seal and dispensing directly with your formulation.

Glass is sensitive to sudden temperature changes. Do not fill the bottle with hot content, and after washing it in hot water, let it cool before filling it with cold oil.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 50 ml glass roll-on bottle suitable for fragrance oils?
Yes, fragrance oils in a carrier oil are the most common use for this set. Glass does not react with fragrance components, and the set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The ball dispenses the oil in small amounts onto the wrists or neck without spilling, and the frosted glass shows how much content is left.
Can a roll-on bottle be filled with water-based or alcohol-based content?
Yes, a roll-on handles both water-based and alcohol-based contents as long as they are liquid. For alcohol-based perfumes, we recommend checking how the plastic socket with the ball behaves after longer contact with alcohol. Water-based contents must be preserved, as the ball touches the skin with every use.
How much content can actually be filled into a 50 ml roll-on bottle?
The bottle is filled up to the nominal volume of 50 ml. The total brimful volume is larger and can be found in the parameters. The difference is a reserve for the socket with the ball, which is pressed into the neck after filling and takes up part of the space, and for the expansion of the content with temperature changes.
How is a roll-on bottle cleaned before reuse?
Wash the bottle with warm water and a cleaning product, rinse it, disinfect it with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and let it dry. The socket with the ball can be removed and rinsed, but oil residues in it retain the scent of the previous content. When changing the fragrance composition, it is more reliable to fit a new socket.
Does a roll-on also work with thick serums and gels?
No, thick contents are dispensed poorly through the ball. The ball transfers the content in a thin layer as it rolls, and a thick gel or cream slows it down or may clog the socket. A roll-on is suitable for oils, alcohol solutions and light serums without thickeners. For borderline viscosity, we recommend filling one piece as a test.
