Product description
Glass bottle, blue, roll-on, 100 ml is a ready-made set for products applied directly to the skin without using your hands: massage and body oils, roll-on deodorants, cooling and warming muscle solutions or aromatic blends for the wrists and temples. The 100 ml volume is enough for regular application over a larger area of the body, where small roll-on bottles are not sufficient.
The set consists of a glass bottle with an 18/410 neck finish, a metal roller ball in a plastic socket and a black polypropylene cap. All three components are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products, and the declaration of conformity is available with the product. The set is intended for cosmetics.
What a roll-on bottle is suitable for
- Massage and body oils – the roller ball spreads the oil over the skin in a thin layer, without having to scoop it into your palm.
- Roll-on deodorants – liquid and thin gel formulations, which the roller ball applies evenly.
- Muscle and joint solutions – alcohol-based or oil-based preparations with essential oils, applied over a larger area after exercise or strain.
- Aromatic blends – essential oils diluted in a carrier oil for the wrists, neck or temples.
- Light toners and facial waters – water-based solutions for freshening up, where the roller ball also cools the skin and gently massages it.
Filling and handling the bottle
Before the first filling, the bottle, the roller ball and the cap are washed, disinfected with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and left to dry completely. Moisture in the neck or under the roller ball would dilute the contents and, in water-based formulations, also weaken the preservation.
The bottle is filled with a funnel or a syringe. After filling, the roller ball in its socket is placed on the neck and pressed in until it seats. Only then is the cap screwed on. The cap and the roller ball have an 18/410 thread, the same as the bottle, so the cap holds securely even after the roller ball has been fitted.
Fill up to the nominal volume of 100 ml, not to the brim. The headroom above the liquid level is needed for the roller ball socket and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. An overfilled bottle leaks when the roller ball is pressed in.
The nominal volume is the volume the packaging is designed for under normal filling. The total brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck and you can find it in the parameters. The difference between them is the space for the roller ball and the closure.
Good to know
Liquid to slightly viscous formulations pass through the roller ball. Oils, alcohol-based solutions, water-based solutions and thin gels are applied without any problem. Thick creams, butters or formulations with solid particles block the roller ball or no longer coat it.
For formulations with a high proportion of essential oils or alcohol, we recommend checking the behaviour of the plastic roller ball socket and the tightness of the cap with your specific formulation before a larger production run. The roller ball socket and the cap are made of polypropylene, which comes into contact with the contents.
The metal roller ball has a cooling effect on the skin, which can be used for roll-ons for the temples, the eye area or tired legs. After use, close the bottle with the cap, otherwise the roller ball dries out and, with oils, a sticky film remains on it.
The set can be reused. Before a new filling, the roller ball is pulled out of the neck, and all parts are washed and disinfected. If the socket can no longer be fitted firmly after it has been removed, it must be replaced with a new one, otherwise the bottle will leak in a handbag or while travelling.
When sorting waste, the glass bottle belongs in glass, and the cap and the roller ball socket in plastic. The steel ball must be removed from the socket before sorting.
Closures with the same neck type and ready-made bottle + closure combinations can be found in the Handymade range. If you choose your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and the behaviour of the closure with your specific formulation.
