Indicator paper strips for measuring pH 1–14 are a practical, accurate and fast aid for checking the acidity or alkalinity of solutions when manufacturing cosmetics, household cleaning products, or when checking the pH of rinsing solutions before filling them into packaging. Thanks to the wide pH measurement range, they are suitable for ongoing control of formulation stability, the safety of finished products, as well as for simple comparative tests in small-scale production.
Briefly immerse the strip or press it against a small sample of the solution you want to test, making sure that the indicator fields are evenly moistened but not soaked through. After the recommended time has elapsed (usually a few seconds), compare the colouring of the indicator zones with the scale on the packaging. Perform the measurement only after thoroughly mixing the product, ideally at room temperature, and always use clean tools so as not to affect the pH result.
Indicator paper strips are intended for single use – use each snippet only once and dispose of it after the measurement. This prevents distortion of the results and contamination of the tested solution. If you need to perform multiple measurements, always use a new strip and work with a clean sample of the product.
Store the strips in their original packaging, always well closed, in a dry and cooler place away from direct sunlight and sources of moisture. Avoid storing them in the immediate vicinity of aggressive chemicals and fumes that could gradually alter the indicator fields. When handling the packaging and the strips, keep your hands dry and clean so as not to affect their sensitivity.
Indicator paper strips provide quick and simple indicative pH measurement with sufficient accuracy for most cosmetic and hobby applications. An electronic pH probe makes it possible to obtain a more accurate value with finer resolution, but it requires calibration, care of the electrode and often a higher initial investment. For hand-made cosmetic production and routine pH control of products, strips are generally fully sufficient; for specific professional applications it may be appropriate to supplement them with measurements using a pH meter.
To select a suitable bottle, vial, jar or other packaging, you can use the extended filter located at the top of the page after clicking on the given packaging category. You can clearly filter the products by neck type, size, colour and material, which facilitates the selection of packaging for a specific formulation and the desired dosing method. Thanks to the filters, you will quickly find compatible closures, pumps or sprayers for your projects.
