Glass packaging is generally considered to be a very stable and inert material, therefore it is also suitable for formulations with a higher content of active substances or perfumes. However, for extremely reactive or highly concentrated components we always recommend performing your own stability test in the specific bottle to verify the long-term compatibility of the contents with the packaging and the dropper.

The glass bottle can be reused provided you follow strict hygienic rules. Before each new filling, it is necessary to thoroughly clean the packaging and the individual parts of the dropper mechanically and then disinfect them with a suitable alcohol solution (for example products available on Handymade: IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or ethanol 96 % denatured plant-based). Only after complete drying can you safely refill the bottle with a new formulation.

First remove the residues of the original product by mechanically rinsing with a suitable solvent (for example warm water with a mild detergent for aqueous formulations or a vegetable oil for oil blends). Then thoroughly rinse the packaging with clean water and let it dry. Before refilling, we recommend disinfecting the inner surfaces of the bottle as well as the parts of the dropper with an alcohol solution, for example using the products IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or ethanol 96 % denatured plant-based, and waiting for the complete evaporation of the alcohol.

If you decide not to reuse the bottle, we recommend recycling it according to the material types listed in the product parameters. After emptying and a basic rinsing, place the glass part in the collection of packaging glass according to local rules. It is advisable to separate the dropper and any plastic or metal components and place them in the appropriate sorted waste according to the material indicated for the product. In this way you reduce the amount of municipal waste and support the reuse of raw materials.
