Product description
Ready-made roll-on packaging for cosmetics that are applied directly to the skin with a rolling motion: a square amber glass medicine bottle, 45 ml, a metal roller ball and a black cap in one set. Amber glass limits the access of light, so perfume oils, blends of essential oils in a carrier oil and oil-based serums are better protected in it than in clear glass. The 45 ml volume also leaves room for a body oil, a massage blend or a perfume oil that is used daily and in larger amounts than a pocket roll-on bottle can handle.
The set consists of three pieces: a glass bottle with an 18 mm thread on the neck, a steel roller ball in a plastic socket and an 18/410 cap that covers the ball and protects it from dirt. All three components are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products.
Suitable uses
- Perfume oils – the ball spreads a small amount on the wrist or neck without dripping, and the contents are dispensed sparingly.
- Aromatherapy blends – essential oils diluted in a carrier oil can be applied precisely to a specific spot, and the amber glass protects the fragrant components from light.
- Body and massage oils – the volume is enough for regular use, and the ball spreads the oil more smoothly than applying it from the palm.
- Oil serums and cuticle care – the dose stays small, and the skin is gently massaged during application.
- Deodorants and refreshing alcohol-based blends – thin alcohol-based solutions pass through the ball without problems.
Filling and working with the roll-on
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume of 45 ml, not to the brim. The nominal volume is the volume the packaging is designed for under normal filling. The brimful capacity given in the parameters is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the ball, which is pushed into the neck and displaces part of the contents, and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. An overfilled bottle overflows when the ball is inserted, and the contents remain in the thread.
After filling, the ball is placed on the neck and pressed in until it seats. The cap is then screwed onto the 18 mm thread. Before first use, we recommend turning the filled bottle upside down and holding it for a moment, so that you can check the tightness of the ball and the cap with your specific formulation.
The roll-on works best with thin contents such as oils, alcohol-based solutions and light serums. Thicker gels or emulsions pass through the ball with difficulty and may block it, so with such contents try the dispensing on a single piece first.
Good to know
Before the first filling, the bottle, the ball and the cap are washed, disinfected with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and left to dry completely, so that no water remains in the neck or in the ball socket. With contents that have a high proportion of essential oils or solvents, check how the plastic ball socket and the cap behave in the finished formulation, as compatibility depends on the specific composition.
The packaging can be used repeatedly. The ball is pried out of the neck, for example with the flat side of a spoon, and all parts are washed and disinfected in the same way as before the first filling. After the ball is inserted again, check the tightness once more, as the socket may loosen with repeated removal.
The set is declared for contact with cosmetics only. It should not be used for food, syrups or herbal infusions, as none of the components has a certificate for food contact.
Closures with the same neck type and other ready-made combinations of a bottle with closures can be found in the Handymade range. With your own combination, check the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation.
Once emptied and rinsed, the glass bottle is sorted as glass. The cap and the ball socket are made of polypropylene and the ball of steel, so remove the ball from the socket before sorting plastics.
