Amber glass medicine bottle, matte, nasal sprayer, 30 ml is a ready-made set for thin, water-based preparations that are applied in small, always identical doses. Amber glass dampens light and helps protect contents that are sensitive to UV radiation, while the matte surface hides the level of the contents. The pump with a long, narrow applicator sprays the contents as a fine mist, and one dose has a volume of approximately 0.12 ml.

The set is suitable wherever a standard sprayer would release too much at once. Both the bottle and the pump are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products, and you will find the declarations of conformity for both components on the product page.

How the pump works

The pump with an 18/410 thread screws directly onto the neck of the bottle. The tube draws the contents up from the bottom, and when the pump is pressed, the measured amount is pushed out through the nozzle in the applicator. The amount per press is determined by the construction, not by the force of the press, so the dosing is even from the first dose to the last. Hold the bottle upright when using it. If it is tilted, the end of the tube loses contact with the liquid and the pump draws in air.

The name of the pump comes from the shape of its applicator. Whether a particular preparation is suitable for application into the nose depends on its composition and classification, not on the packaging.

What the set is suitable for

• Hydrosols and floral waters – thin water-based liquids pass through the nozzle without any problem, and 30 ml is a sensible size for a handbag or for trying a product out.
• Toners and facial mists – water-based or water-glycerine preparations where you want a small measured dose instead of a wide spray.
• Sprays for smaller areas – the scalp, hands or the décolletage area, where the long applicator directs the dose precisely.
• Samples and test batches – the volume is enough to check the formulation, the behaviour of the pump and the real consumption before larger-scale production.

Do not fill the set with oils, emulsions, thick gels or preparations containing solid particles. They will clog the narrow tube and nozzle, and the pump will stop dosing evenly.

Filling and preparation before first use

Before the first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely. Rinse the pump with clean water or alcohol by pumping it through several times, and let it dry as well. Do not heat or boil the pump, as it contains both plastic and metal parts.

Pour in the contents once they have cooled, never hot, and fill up to the nominal volume of 30 ml. After screwing on the pump, press it several times to prime it until the tube fills and an even mist comes out of the nozzle.

Good to know

Nominal volume is the amount the bottle is intended for under normal filling. Brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck, and you will find it in the parameters. The difference between them is a reserve for the tube and the body of the pump, for the air above the liquid and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If the bottle is filled to the brim, the contents will overflow when the pump is screwed on.

Water-based sprays need effective preservation. The pump limits contact of the contents with the fingers, but air still gets into the bottle with every press. Wipe the applicator after use.

After washing and disinfection, you can reuse the bottle. The pump can be rinsed and used again for the same type of preparation, but the mechanism wears out over time and the inside of the tube cannot be cleaned reliably. If you change the recipe, use a new pump.

The bottle has a standard 18/410 neck, so other closures with the same thread from the Handymade range will also fit it, or you can choose from the ready-made combinations. If you are putting together your own set, we recommend checking the tightness and the behaviour of the closure with your specific formulation.

The bottle goes in glass recycling. The pump contains both plastics and metal, so unscrew it before disposal and discard it separately from the bottle.
