CO₂ extracts are a modern type of plant extracts obtained by supercritical carbon dioxide extraction . This process allows to gently isolate the active substances without the use of heat or organic solvents, thus preserving their maximum purity and biological activity. Key terms: CO₂ extracts , supercritical extraction , plant concentrates , cosmetic formulations .
We offer two types of extracts - CO₂-se (selective) and CO₂-to (total) . Selective extracts contain mainly volatile components and are similar in behaviour to essential oils , while total extracts also capture waxes, resins and fats, thus providing a fuller spectrum of plant-derived substances. Both types are highly stable, concentrated and suitable for the production of cosmetic products with natural composition.
CO₂ extracts are applied in creams, serums, ointment bases, body butters, balms and hair cosmetics. They are ideal for formulations where high potency at low dosage is required. Full documentation is available - MSDS, COA, IFRA and allergen list. Read more about this technology in the article CO₂ extracts and their uses.
They contain mainly volatile aromatics and CO₂-soluble active ingredients. They are suitable for perfumed or aromatherapy products where they replace essential oils . They are characterised by their purity and stability without residual solvents.
They represent the full extract of the plant containing also waxes, resins and fats . This makes them rich in sensory properties, intense in colour and strong in effect. They are used in regenerating and nourishing cosmetic products .
CO₂ extracts are naturally stable, protected from oxidation and do not require added preservatives. It is recommended to store them in closed containers, away from direct light and heat sources.
All products include MSDS , COA , IFRA declaration and allergen list . These documents facilitate safe and legally correct use in cosmetics.
CO₂-se (selective) contains mainly volatile aromatic compounds similar to essential oils, whereas CO₂-to (total) captures the full spectrum of substances including waxes, resins and fats. Each type has different sensory and functional properties.
They are used in low concentrations (0.1-1%) to enrich creams, masks, oils or balms. Due to the high concentration of active ingredients, a small amount is sufficient for a strong effect and fragrance.
Yes, CO₂ extracts are considered safe as long as they are used according to the recommended dosage. They do not contain residual solvents and meet the requirements of cosmetic legislation.
CO₂ extracts have a broader spectrum of ingredients than essential oils. They also contain non-volatile substances, which gives them a more complex effect, a milder fragrance and better tolerability with the skin.
Store them in tightly sealed bottles, out of direct sunlight and heat sources. This way they will retain their stability and potency for many months.
